Granted Mumbai lineup bar jaffer is inexperienced but just watching vinay bowl right now,I get it why selectors keep picking this guy and dhoni keeps backing him. Just saw his spell and must say some brilliant stuff.....mithun picked up a wicket and it does look favorable conditions but my word he looks like taking a wicket every ball. I get it.....I am a believer...I used to think stats in domestics mean nothing and this guy was quota player but he does look world class. Don't know what happens to him in internationals,he is literally making the ball talk right now. No wonder people who follow indian domestics regularly here don't criticse him a lot :hatsoff: to lejund for making a believer in me today. Having said that....time to move on,he blew his chances in international cricket but well deserved run,too bad for him.

^not joking dude.....I am watching both vinay and mithun and there is a class difference there....also saw the Mumbai tundlers...defintetely he has some level of talent compared to others...not saying a lot though but still I am impressed. He should not be selected again but I will never blame tenvic or quota selection for him again

I play cricket myself and hate to see people going to an extent of asking player to stop playing cricket etc after he has a poor run in international game. I also would point out which player should be dropped and stuff, but Iry to keep it to a limit. These players put lot of hardwork in training etc even to reach that level. About the same amunt of hard work any person doing good today in his respective field after havng earned a degree. They deserve better. No harm in criticising someone, but asking a player to be axed forever etc is what people need to check again.

Vinay always do well when ball is doing something, he can swing the ball both ways and setup a batsman..But when ball stops doing anything, and no assistance from the pitch , he is just another trundler, too easy to play.

There are many bowlers who look like champions in domestic cricket. There is a world of difference between domestic level and international level. If you don't have pace or don't bowl in conditions which are favorable for seamers, you will go for runs which is what happens to bowlers like Vinay Kumar.

Also, we tend to treat pacers or seamers like garbage in our country. 90 % of wickets in tests are picked by spinners at home and we prepare pitches which suit them. How will the seamers learn to set up test quality batsmen and how will they get confidence to take wickets against top sides ? This is why our bowlers struggle when we go overseas despite having favorable conditions to bowl in.

The best way to really know who is world class is by sending players to different leagues. Ranji, County, Australia/SA, this will teach a lot to upcoming players (and even experienced players for that matter) and also show the selection panel which players are truly world class. Bhajji and Zaheer, the only two players left in this era who are/were at some point among the world's best, both gained a lot from playing county cricket. BCCI need to get this right.

Genuinely seemed a problem of formats. The skills to succeed in ODI cricket are different from FC or Test cricket. Yes, he bowled in one Test but that isn't enough to draw proper conclusions.

International batsmen have more class than domestic batsmen, so success in domestic does not necessarily mean anything at the international level. The poorest batsmen at the international level are often as good as the best batsmen you come across locally - the barrier between domestic success to international success is quite huge, and only a handful of successful domestic players have it in them to succeed at the higher level.
