NareshK Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Great Player. He was quick in his earlier days and provided lot of luxury to SA bowling line-up. He is still bowling around 135-140k which is quite good and troubling the batsmen. He was also timing the ball well in 2nd innings. Surprising that he has chosen to quit. Will leave a big void in SA test side.

I have not seen anyone who is even half as good as him in SA so far. he has faded a little in last few matches but boy he could really bat. Those knocks in cape town with bad back in 2011 were just legendary. between him and sobers, they would be two best players who have ever played this game.

They may not get a player like him in next 50/80 years. Windies never got one after sobers. Pakistan never got one after Imran Khan. India never got one after Dev. England never got one after botham(clostest they got was flintoff). Ausssie never got one after Miller. Their number 1 spot is up for grabs now. Massive blow.

I underatand what you say, but every great player who starts out has an international stat of zero. Whoever comes into the team will have to build his own legacy with consistant performance, and in the domestic scene in SA there are capable allrounders.
