At least as a containment option Ashwin was used to build pressure. Batting till 8, we really had to score more than 400 and then hope for a Joburg miracle performance with the ball again to make anything of this test. Now, we have only 3 frontline bowlers - 1 of which is made of glass, the other is a nutcase, and one is still finding his feet in international cricket - plus jadejas left arm spin. We are in for a long leather chase I think it would have been more effective to go with 5 bowlers. But notions of dropping --- "resting" ---- Rohit Sharma is treason around these parts.

No.. It is a tactical necessity. DOesn't mean he is permanently discarded. When you tour overseas you have to pick the best XI for the given condition.
