Cricketics Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Okay, I don't believe he is the best in India, but I do believe that the guy can easily rack tons of runs, not just in India, but even outside if he can play with more temperament. This thread is for all of those people who have been critical about Rohit Sharma. Off course fanboys of Rohit are welcome to post here, but it would make interesting discussion if all those wjp have criticized him for his batting, can actually come here and put their two cents and share what and how Rohit can actually improve on his run overseas. May be few advise as a fellow Indian cricket fan. I don't know how many of you saw cricinfo scorecard and thought Rohit failed again. I watched the game and saw every delivery which Rohit faced today. He did look good today. Didn't face much of Steyn but he did pull him for a four which was a good shot and later after the war of words between the two, Philander had replaced him and didn't really see the two players at each other again. In between all of this, Rohit had decided to play his innings on tour. He started playing Morkel with ease. Really, all of a sudden he looked very comfortable. Playing bounce, letting some balls go etc. Until Philander came and cut one in and found him leg before, he was looking good. What he lacks probably is not just temperament, but also the focus of handling different bowler. He sometimes focus too much on a particular bowler so much, that he ends up taking the other bowler lightly or shows weak technique and falls apart. What you guys reckon he needs to really work on.

Cricketics Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 As an Indian, I really want him to do well. If he clicks, it makes our batting brilliant. I mean Pujara-Kohli-Rahane-Rohit. This is just dream combination. Our bowling was always inconsistent, but some of the games which we have won overseas are thanks to the performances of our bats who might not click all together in every victory, but there would be one player who would play a match winning knock.
IKnowU Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 He is getting lot of leg before or bowled. I think it's because he doesn't have a busy footwork like Kohli, Pujara Rahane. He's more of a hand eye coordinated batter who has no Plan B if that fails him. In most conditions his footwork wont be exposed too much, but when the ball starts talking, you really have to get behind the ball in which I don't think Rohit doesn't do enough, ODI and Tests krikut.

I ma not asking him to be dropped already but need to be if he does not work. Need to think who can be that guy to bat at 6. Rayudu and Manoj Tiwary, I do not have much hope. They both have lesser feet movement than even Rohit.

For someone who is only 4 Tests old and got 2 hundreds in his first 2 innings, that is a very harsh comment. He deserves a few more chances. SA tour is tough. Even Dhawan and Dhoni failed, but I don't see anyone asking for Dhawan to be sacked.
