i think pandey will replace ishant in tests. selectors most probably want to give zak a longer run' date=' so most likely bowling attack will be shami+pandey+zak for NZ. have to feel sad for umesh though[/quote'] I don't think Zak is fit enough to play all the tests. If played its best in alternate games, cos in the second game against SA he looked tired.

Stuart binny- what pace does be bowl at..... does he swing we know he bats well but is he a 130 k bowler or a 120 k bowler with out swing or in dwing
If he plays ODIs in NZ, we will see this more often, I suppose.

150 0vers were not bowled at full throttle ....actually success achieved by saron n Zak earlier has been moderate. ..i beleive Varun wud have achieved more success had he bowled more at full throttle.
You do not bowl full throttle straight away after coming back form such a back surgery. You increase pace steadily and not put sudden load on the body to get injured again. It is a step by step recovery and process. You start slow and steadily over a period prior to increase the effort and load on the body slowly so that it could cope with that in a better way.

Umar Gul had a knee surgery , got fit, played 3-4 FC matches and came back to the ODI squad. Did well (bowling at considerably lower speeds), got picked for test squad and is now injured again. I am not sure if Aaron should have been picked. No need to rush him into ODIs right now. Asia Cup or World T20 would have been ideal IMO.

5 ODI' series isn't a work load on a bowler. There are more chances of him getting injured in a 4 day game where he might be on field all day, then playing 2-3 odi's in New Zealand. Itna NAAZUK naa banao humarein players ko.

Nahi yaar, comeback after nearly 2 years of post surgery rehabs is never going to be easy. Yes he's played 5-6 FC games and bowled overs. But the intensity of international cricket would be totally different. I feel he should have been allowed to continue working on his bowling, play some more domestic cricket till Feb end and then recalled to the ODI squad. But now that he's been picked, lets hope he does well and remains injury free.

Dont think Aaron is going to play straight away. He might not play any in NZ. There are still 15 odd days before NZ first ODI and first preference will certainly be given to Hopeless, BK and Shami.

Surgery happened last year in Feb and he is doing rehab since then. It is 10 months now.

He's been away from FC cricket for 24+ months (played a few IPL matches in betwen) and has played 2 months of FC cricket. I don't think thats enough workload to make a comeback. Lots of cricket ahead, we could have been a little patient with him.

Like someone said earlier, playing a domestic game gives more chance of injury then a few odis. Of course dhoni hates pace and will play him in one or two games only, plus only bowl him 6 overs or something. Main risk of injury is dhobi trying to injure him cos he is fast, so will give him one over and 2 over spells in attampt to catch him cold to injure the ,while dhobis hands stay injury free ready for csk games and for ishant back in the hotel room.

So it is better to play rather than not play fearing injury. I do not think there is much difference in bowling 10 overs in 3 spells in an ODI and bowling 20-25 overs in 4-5 spells in an FC match. Bowling is bowling. You cannot prevent such injuries no matter what you do if they are too happen. I can only hope he must have done right things to strengthen his body in this rehab period. We will only know once we see him. Though I do not think he is going to play in 1st ODI. I

Stuart Binny bowls so slow that the speedgun doesn't even detect the movement When Stuart Binny takes a single the teams are awarded a drinks break Stuart Binny is not allowed to field on fields that have pipelines running beneath them

We thought the same when he played IPL. Ideally nothing should have happened but he was out for next 18 months! Rest of the post wont comment.

But has took loads of time off, surgery, rehabilitation, its clear is only coming back as ready to play. Is playing and done 2 months of playing now in gruelling ranji trophy. Odis are least likely enviroment for him to reinjure. He is playing and fit. So play If you are being consistent you will say he should not play days in ranji either and can only play when gets go ahead from ICF members. he must ignore specialists who have scheduled his comback:--D

That is not because he played but because he needed a surgery on that L5 disc which they did not explore at that time and that injury recurred again while the only option was surgery and could not have healed by any other way. Look at this way too, he has played 6 FC matches bowled 150 plus overs, must have bowled in the nets too but injury has not recurred while he barely bowled 30 overs in IPL and injury recurred which meant that they were going on a wrong patch wrt to injury and did not assess the seriousness of injury that it was to an extent which required a surgery. You can never prevent these injuries by not playing.

Another thing, Gul is not injured or recurrent injury. He is just lacking stamina and fitness to bowl overs in test cricket. So he was sent back to play domestic cricket and gain test match fitness.

Team physio, Dale Naylor, who treated Gul for one week, has recommended further training for Gul at the NCA. Umar Gul underwent knee surgery in Melbourne in May 2013 after picking up an injury during Pakistan’s tour to South Africa. Following his release from the squad, Gul will return to Pakistan. He has been advised to participate in domestic cricket to regain Test match fitness.

Team India’s two instrumental players in the World Cup triumph — Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh — did something unusual after being dropped from the squad due to fitness issues. The duo silently took the flight to France, where they trained at Brive La Gaillarde for six weeks before returning fit and fuming. Varun Aaron, whose promising career has been blighted by injuries, too did something similar. The 24-year-old, who last played for India against the West Indies in December 2011, travelled to the Red Bull’s High Performance centre in Austria. “I went there in August and it was a great exposure for me. They had the best of training facilities and I underwent lots of scientific tests to figure out where I was struggling in terms of fitness. They also did biomechanic tests to check my endurance and it was a good learning experience,” Aaron, who was selected for the tour to New Zealand, told TNIE. The speedster, who was out with a back injury for a year-and-a-half, agrees that understanding the body is crucial to a fast bowler. “When I was with Delhi Daredevils (IPL-5), I was not completely fit and stayed put for a month. Soon after, I had a stress fracture so I knew it was going to be long. I planned a schedule, working out at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and sat with the physio to chalk out a detailed schedule to regain fitness. I was cautious about small, small details and I didn’t want to rush back,” said Aaron. After a lengthy lay-off, the Jharkhand bowler returned to competitive cricket against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy. Since then, he has taken 18 wickets in five matches. “The priority was to take wickets, but I also wanted to ensure I can bowl throughout the day. There is no better practice than bowling in the middle and now I can say ‘I’m fully fit’ because I knew I had the ability and it was jut a matter of fitness,” Aaron, who made his Test debut against the West Indies, said. MRF Pace Foundation chief coach M Senthilnathan, attests Aaron’s character. “He didn’t want to compromise on his pace and that meant he had to sit out for long to regain full fitness. But he never lost the focus and remained hungry. We worked on his action a little bit to ensure his backfoot is opened up so that there is not much stress on his left ankle,” he said. Inputs of former MRF director and legend Dennis Lillee also helped him. “I was in touch with Dennis Lillee because he has seen me a lot and even he had stress fracture. So he helped me with his inputs,” he signed off.
