ODI pitches have been flat these days even in Australia
ODI pitches the world over are flat. However, Indian ODI pattas are in a different league altogether. Flat pitches in Australia would still mean a

We could do with one cowlasher at 6/7 unless Jadeja can really improve his hitting ability
Dhoni, though not a cowlasher, is already there for the aggressive finishes. Project Raina needs to be shelved and they need to see if Raina can provide aggressive finishes at number 6 away from pattas.

Rayudu earned his place so he and rahane should be at 4/5. Rayudu can also go for the big shots, as can rahane. Don't need and want all sloggers. After you have dhoni and then jadeja who can hit big hopefully.

thats true lol.still we'd need another finisher with Dhoni.don't think Raina is the answer.
I don't have much hopes from Rayudu, but he can be tried instead of Raina. The top 6 would be: Dhawan Rohit Kohli Rahane Dhoni Rayadu I am not sold on Rohit either yet, and if he flops Pujara can come in to open.

Rahane is an obvious choice. As far as Rayudu is concerned he'll be carrying drinks for the first 3 ODIs at least, don't see Raina getting dropped until he fails in the first 3.

rahane he was always better than rayadu but its question of where they will play him dhoni can push raina at 4 (project raina ) if that is case rayadu becomes better option but if its for number 4 than rahane is better option i think in this series lower order will have to contribute a lot in odis so we need solid batsman like rahane and if its patta guys like dhawan and rohit will take care of big scores while kohli is man for all situations :D

I prefer Rayudu over Rahane at 4. Rahane isn't all that good in the death overs and he looses it most of the time when under pressure and usually when wickets fall around him, as far LOIs are concerned. Rayudu can build an innings incase of a collapse and could be a handy finisher as well. I still wouldn't mind gambling with Rohit at #4 and Pujara opening. Rohit's job is what Gambhir's used to be when he was in good touch. Building a foundation for the side where others bat around him. Pujara can handle that as well and Kohli is an all round batsman in this case.

Oh come on Yuvraj deserves a series or two more. Yes the competition is sky high and on merit Yuvraj doesnt deserve an ODI spot but history has to count for something. He is just coming back from cancer recently, i hope bcci dont give up on him just yet.

Rahane definitely. Has the technique to play defensively if needed and build partnerships. He can also accelerate and play some shots. Also, some people are underrating Rayudu in ODIs. For me, he is as good as Rahane or Rohit Sharma. You will see that when he gets an opportunity.
