Silva Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 In those same countries Ishant has an odi average of 23 at a strike rate of 26. 3rd lowest strike rate all time among bowlers that have taken 30+ wickets in those countries. I think because in ODI batsman are forced into playing at his wayward deliveries and in test matches he looses intensity the longer he bowls. He should be treated as an limited overs specialist because he has been good for us the past year.

But Dhoni would not pick Kapil and make him 12th man for a year in attempt o mentally destroy. Kapil would really annoy dhoni in nets as he would keep getting him out and hit dhobi frequently in nets, dhobi would claim Kapil is out of rhythmn. Then forced to pick him for 1 odi, give him 7 spells for 8 overs. Up to over 7 he would have bowled well, dhobi would have taken him off, waited till last over to give him one over , the last one in attempt to kill him and dicredit him. Meanwhile in same game Ishant would get 2 cosy spells to fully clock 10 overs. Also no way he would play Kapil and Srinath at same time. That would be too much pace, might endanger his hands for csk( I mean what would srini mamma do with his skipper). And even by some miracle played them as same time, ishant would still get new cherry and bowl more overs.

ALl his 4 tests were in Australia. Irfan made debut 4 years before Ishant. Ishant has played everywhere though.

He lost some of his zip many, many years ago.
