(130-135 kph) If you have not understood this already, let me make it clear one more time – Nobody resents genuine pace. Why would we? What is comically immature is the sheer infatuation some of you guys have with speed, often times at the expense of skill. Speed without skill is utterly useless – Ask Mohammed Sami, Monantu Hayward, Darren Powell etc. A lot of guys can bowl fast, but speed alone does not get you success against international class batsmen. shaun tait :giggle:

express bowling Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Zaheer Khan bowled 130 to 142 k during the major part of his career. Could hit the deck hard and get bounce and pace off the pitch when the situation called for it. He was not a medium pacer by any stretch of imagination.

I don't know why many people assume that those who like quick bowlers are desperately looking for low quality quicks. Pace is often the starting point in identifying pace talent. It is the most difficult aspect to develop , among the requisite traits of a pacer. So, seamers with some pace and bounce are sought and then developed by coaches. It is often the case, even in international teams. A bowler with raw pace picks up skills as he plays more. Nobody likes a bad quick bowler who cannot take wickets even after playing for a decent length of time. Good example is Ishant Sharma.

And take lots of wickets. Dhoni might consider taking a leaf out of Zaheer's book , when it comes to motivating pacers about their speed and ability.

Sad :(( He can bowl mid 130s to high 130s when needed, did yesterday in his first spell. He still needs to work on his stamina.

Zaheer was clocking 125 to 130 k when he was totally exhausted and bowling without effort in the Durban test. Here, he is bowling 120 to 126 k during such spells. So, not sure about the speed gun readings in some domestic matches.

More than anything it was contrast between him and other 3 quick bowlers Mumbai have...others were looking mediocre but this guy was moving,bouncing the ball and making batsmen jump Anyway big problem I see right now is stamina and also he needs to bowl little tight with same pace...I guess with better fitness that is possible

Ryan Harris averaged 30 in FC cricket does not make him ordinary. Need to remind you, pitches in those days in Sheffield used to be flat tracks. Even Jason Gillespie averages 26 in FC, Brett Lee averages 28 in FC.

The objective of a strike bowler is to take wickets while conceding least possible amounts of runs, not taking wickets at least possible strike rate.An average of 28+ for a fast bowler hitting the deck on the bounciest of pitches on the planet against ordinary first class batsmen is pretty ordinary. An average of 28 with the ball while strike rate of 46 proves that he was smashed around at FC level, even by FC quality guys and since he has done NOTHING at test level, Shaun Tait = ordinary bowler in the longer format.
