But they kept bowling ball after ball in the same area...as I said he was not totally hopeless but could have done better as he had got the best conditions in the entire match keep in mind that was because of the insane strategy in first innings .. in 2nd innings he was easily better than any other bowler in this match..almost unplayable obviously some deliveries would come out wrong but there is nothing wrong with way he bowled in 2nd inning

This is a young side and will take time to settle, adapt, learn and become better. They should be given time rather than quickly judging and dismissing them after every game. Many of our fans have a poor mindset of writing off players too quickly which is a symptom of our ADHD generation.

Jadeja - tailender in tests ? Rahane and Rohit are inconsistent ? They have each played only 5 games. Shami has average of 27 and strike rate of 47. How is he inconsistent and erratic ? Rahane had a great series in SA, looked good in 2nd innings here before he got a bad decision. How is he inconsistent ?

Really ? Maybe you were just looking for Ishant on the telly and not watching the match ? He bowled 6 overs and gave 5 runs in his first spell and constantly troubled the batsman. He caught Fulton plumb lbw which was turned down by the umpire. A couple of catches were also dropped off his bowling. He could have easily picked 3 wickets. It was Ishant and Zaheer who constantly bowled short and gave away the advantage. It was Zaheer's strategy being the senior bowler to bowl short after lunch and Shami also had to follow suit. He bowled just as well in 1st spell of 1st innings as he did in 2nd innings.

All I saw was we had the best bowling conditions of all 4 innings.I saw NZL opening bowlers land ball after ball in the corridor of unceratainty which neither Zak or shami did. Just because he bowled 2-3 beauties and created chances doesn't mean he was perfect. ANyways Martin Crowe, Gavaskar and the NZL commentrators agreed that India wasted the new ball.Also it is not ODI cricket,New ball pressure lasts upto 20 overs in a test match. If it makes you feel better....Shami was not piss poor jeez, but those were dream conditions for any bowler and Ishant whom I said was non-threatening picked up the first 2 wickets

All I can say is that you must have dozed off and dreamed of a bad first spell from Shami in the first innings. He gave away just 5 runs in 6 overs and should have had atleast 2 wickets. A plumb lbw was not given and a simple catch dropped. I am not even considering the multiple plays and misses. Plus, he hit the batters twice on the body with good short balls which creates a psychological impact. An expensive spell later on was because of the continuous short ball strategy that the team employed deliberately but the pitch turned out to be unfavourable for that. While talking about Ishant's six wickets, all the NZ commentators could talk of was Shami deserved more wickets and was the pick of the Indian bowlers.

gaurav92 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Wonderful bowler whop gives everything when he bowls. Ther are a few bowlers who bowl like this - Siddle, Mclaren. Bowled well around the wicket to right handers, created an awkward angle.
