He is single handedly losing us the games: - Hardly takes wickets or contains batsmen - Gets the opposition back in the game more times than raina/kohli - Brainless idiot, bad in the field and bat. But he's MSD's ideal cricketer? How? i thought msd wanted good seamers to bowl good lines and he wanted good legs in the field? If he wants pace and bounce, you have yadav, aaron and even pandey. Sean Bradley Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 wats more disappointing is that earlier he was a good quick bowler who used to get smashed coz of inexperience, and now he is an experienced trundler who can do no jack shyt of good to this team and is still being picked over and over again.

Then again, rahane was out of form earlier and now *touchwood* he's doing fine. Dhawan should remain opener, got a good feeling about him. Pujara could open but again, have to see him tried there. Rahane and rayudu should be mid order bats, raina needs to go im afraid. Keep him for t20 tourneys and odi cups excluding overseas ones. I like him but he's so out of form, i don't recognise this raina from the 2009/2010, even the wc one was miles better. He has flopped in india too. I would consider manoj tiwary too, as a backup mid order bat, if rahane ever needed to open. I like his game, great fielder and bowls decent part time spin. Can be solid too. One of my favourites. So: Dhawan, Pujara/Rahane, Kohli, Rahane/Tiwary, Rayudu, Dhoni, Jadeja, (Seam allrounder), 3 pacers out of: Aaron, Yadav, Bhuvi, Shami, pandey, and maybe kulkarni.

I would say Rohit should be given a few more chances as he has done well in CT, WI tri series, Aus home series. Even Guptill who is a fine player struggled today as there was some swing with the new ball and got out. Rohit played a pull which was mis timed and got out. If it connected well, it could have gone for six. Dhawan has to sort out the way he plays the short ball but he is one of the batsmen who can score very briskly in ODIs and can put the opposition on back foot. He has done well recently and needs to be persisted with. Rahane has good technique and temperament and can also play some shots as we saw in IPL. Just a matter of adjusting to ODI format, rotating strike, building an innings at a good strike rate. I get the feeling he lacks a bit of confidence in ODIs but will do well. He needs to continue batting at 4. Rayudu has to be given an opportunity in Raina's place.

Bunny instead of Ashwin and bats ahead of Jadeda at 7. Also should bring in Rayadu at 5 instead of Raina (which won't happen sadly) and Aaron must replace Ishant. Rohit deserves the whole series to find his feet IMO.
BeautifulGame Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 4 th match in a row outside SC and the 2 spinner strategy doesnt work.We lost 3 of those and one was a washout and Mr.Dhoni still doesnt learn. Both the spinners bowled well .Its ishant that was issue.
