I have seen him domestic in a few matches he would barely clock over 130 there. He got a break and is fresh now, so we saw his pace was up a bit, put a more effort as well, was trying to bowl quicker. A few matches later, he will be back to 128-130. Though I will still have him over Ishant any day if he maintains his consistency.

We all saw in CT how good he was at taking wickets overseas against class batsmen. Face it, you only have this doubt because of his pace. No other bowler who has bowled as good as him has been under such meaningless speculations. Certain bowlers might perform once every 10 matches but still such questions doesn't arrive. It is simple, Just like a young batsman, if you back him, he will improve per match. If you constantly doubt and involve in speculations it will put him down. Based on BCCI central contracts, he is clearly in for the long term plans of selectors. It's Dhoni who doesn't back him

We will wait and see, somehow it seems you (some people) want him to fail to make way for more 'pace'

When one does a thing which is not natural to him, it takes toll on him and it did as in Aus series, he looked a bit tired but he got a break after 1st ODI in SA which helped him. If we have 2 other bowlers like Shami and Aaron, we will need BK from other end as well who can swing the ball and keep it in right areas. Too much of anything is harmful. A combination means, you have variety of bowlers to succeed in different conditions and play certain roles.
rkt.india Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 You solve your top 6 and you would not have to care too much about 7th. #4 not contributing for a while, Raina sucking at 4 and 5, we were always bound to see this day as we were far to o much dependent on top 3 and openers wont bat for 50 overs and or give good starts most times in overseas conditions facing new ball against good pacers, so it is important that 4, 5, and 6 make big contributions when ball gets older. Even in Aus series at home, out 4, 5 were big failures and if not for Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli, we would have lost that too. It is always difficult when your 2 out of top 6 has done nothing in last one year and then we start looking at others like Jadeja at 7 and Ashwin at 8 rather than looking at main issue of 4 and 5.

If the wicket offers some bounce like it does in SA, Aus or NZ, its a better idea to bowl slightly back of a length to get some extra bounce. About BK, he bowled very well in 1st ODI. He has always been a handful when there was swing with the new ball. In fact, his ability to take wickets with the new ball in Champions Trophy, WI tri series was crucial in winning games. But on wickets which are very flat and when there is no swing, he has to be very accurate with his line and length. Same with Shami. They are not express although Shami is about 5k faster. It was also good to see BK bowling yorkers and hitting the block hole in the death overs. It means he is working hard on his bowling. Unlike Ishant who has played 5 to 6 years and still struggles at the death and struggles to bowl a decent line and length and still bowling at 125k. How this guy has maintained his place in the side is one of the enigmas of Indian cricket. Let's hope BK gets back to picking early wickets like he did before as these are conditions which should suit him. But it will always come with confidence and as he gets more settled.

Look I understand what ur saying but in New Zealand u don't really pick wickets with short of length it's more like england tbh and you have to bowl full to get swing Problem with Bhutan is he has been on shorter side even in India and was short even in tests he played so it's more to do with what he wants and I think he will be better off bowling little full and get edges and lbw like before
