He was imperious for couple of years. These guys hardly last one series. It dents our long term plans. It is hard to predict how long they will be good or how long they will be bad as there is no sign of natural progression. Kohli, Dhoni had brilliant natural progression. Yuvraj was also able to sustain his form long.. before hitting a trough.. Then he was able to come back. Raina as a finisher did his role okay. Dhawan had a great CT then okay in Indian matches. Then fell off the wagon in SA. Now in NZ. That is just 2 series.

On being ‘less’ talented I guess talent in cricket has been judged in different ways. For us talent always meant someone who could play pretty shots and make it look easy. That was the definition. It was never about determination or mental strength or more such categories. For example, I remember playing a match against Vinod Kambli, who was one of the cleanest strikers of the ball I had ever seen, at Baroda. First ball of the innings, Anil Kumble was bowling and Kambli waltzed down and hit him for six. Baroda, in those days, had a stone wall and I remember watching the ball bounce back into the ground and thinking to myself, ‘Wow.’ That was talent. But then again, when it came to determination or mental strength, Sachin probably had a lot more in those categories than Kambli. As india slowly but surely slides down the rankings in ODI's & Tests , hopefully this forum will act as a rehab center for all those fans going through a crash and burn cycle and experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

Tiwary should have been in the squad as fixed by now. Hundred on debut, a fifty or two in the limited ops he has got. Has a 4-fer. Brilliant fielder. A guy who backs himself and will perform. Can build/re-build an innings and get you those 50-75 run partnerships. He would be my number 5, with rahane/rayudu at 4

CT Dhawan took all the pressure away from this guy and he still could not hit a 50.

Only suited to tests Aaron in for ishant Rahane can open for rohit and rayudu come in middler order Disgrace pujara not in squad, as would come straight in I have to disagree regarding binny. Its obvious that ashwin can't even pick a single wicket and his batting is useless since we need the sloggers at the end. Binny with some medium pace can add to the 3 seamers. Jadeja stays for me, so no mishra unfortunately. But mishra should be backed to lose weight and then come into the side because he is a wicket taker imo. Aaron in for ishant Kumar stays, bowled well and is getting his yorkers right! Keep it up bhuvi. Shami in. Plus binny can provide some batting
