Yantra Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Its good that he is out of ODI team, I always felt that ODI performances is affecting his confidence and he never really is good bowler for ODI format, Umesh needs free hand at just go out and bowl fast does not matter if you go for few runs as long as he has wicket taking deliverys. he is like a "Sandh" just tell him to go out an bowl fast don't worry about other thing and he can get result for you. Just playing test will improve his career also. To me if we are playing abroad needs to get 20 wickets and need a bowlers who can produces such wicket taking deliveys, my choices would when playing out side India on fast pitches would be 1, Umesh Yadav 2, Varon Aaron, 3, Mohanmmad Shami 4, Rahul Shukla 5, Pankaj Singh/Ishwar Pandey All of the above except Pankaj and Ishwar are erratic at time but has some deadly wicket taking balls, which is like a diamond when playing outside. what you guys say?
moniker Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 He didn't play the tests too in SA. If the thinking is to save him for tests, that's fine. But Dhoni doesn't seem to want to pick him in any format.
ShebbySB Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 We already have bowlers with pace in the ODI squad in Aaron & Shami,it's a good decision to keep Umesh out of the ODI setup. He's strike bowler in test cricket who can go for runs but will always buy u wickets.

Then why was he not played in "Tests" in the Ideal location for fast bowling - South Africa and Ishant Sharma preferred to him ? This is like asking someone to skip breakfast and lunch for a gala dinner and then KLPD him during the dinner:finger:

King Tendulkar Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 If he was playing tests and fully backed there. Maybe maybe I would reluctantly agree. But he is not in test team either
FischerTal Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Dhoni will play Umesh when he starts bowling at Fatwin's speed :agree:
express bowling Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Ishant was preferred to Umesh in TESTS because he outbowled Umesh in one ODI. If that is the basis for test pacers' selection then how would Umesh get to show his mettle without being in the ODI team.
saneindian Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Ishant was preferred to Umesh in TESTS because he outbowled Umesh in one ODI. If that is the basis for test pacers' selection then how would Umesh get to show his mettle without being in the ODI team. Ishant also went back to domestic cricket and picked more wickets in one FC game than Umesh managed playing 4 FC games and a few List A matches! Ishant also picked more wickets in the lone ODI he played than Umesh could take in 2 matches. Ideally if you are not picked in the 11, you show in the nets you are ready to go by bowling well and working even harder on your bowling. Now not playing the ODIs, Umesh gets about a month to get back his rhythm and correct some technical issues he talked about a few weeks ago. Lets see how much effort he puts in this time available. Unfortunately for him though Vidarbha is not going to be playing any competitive cricket right now
G_B_ Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 yes umesh was terrible for viderbha v mumbai in the ranjis. Aditya Tare destroyed him in the second innings. In comparison Aaron looked impressive.
adi B Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 oh since umesh was terrible on a flat vidharba wkt,he was not picked on that basis to play the tests lol!! surely even johnson shouldn't have played a single test in the ashes since he was smashed on flat indian pitches no? india needs a genuine pace bowler like umesh in tests and not fools like pishant no matter how he performed in the odis or be domestic..india/dhoni have become a laughing stock in world cricket for playing idiots like pishant and conceding runs like anything!!
saneindian Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Jhonson played a FC match after the Indian ODIs where he picked 5 wickets , so maybe he was picked for tests on the basis of that FC match :--D
adi B Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 anyway whats done is done, now dhoni needs to correct his mistakes, pick the best 11 in both the format without giving long rope to worthless players

It had plenty in it for the bowlers.

How soon we discard someone of the caliber of Bhuveneswar Kumar just on the basis of one really bad match and an ordinary series on bad wickets. Please check his figures in CT and Pakistan series and let me know which Indian bowler has bowled so well in intial matches And you want wicket taking deliveries, check these 6IT4vQkEMqc JJeQibzp8Og I would love to know when Varun or Yadav have produced such deliveries to completely bamboozle the batsmen no matter how many times you masturbate to their pace
adi B Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 ^watch umesh's 12wkts in 3 innings in waca and melbourne in TESTS,he produced quality deliveries at superior pace and bamboozled the top batsmen.. aaron hasn't played much so unfair to compare with bhuvi but still he knocked off the stumps of 3 english batsmen in 2 odis he played against them.. anyway bhuvi should play in the odis ,but our captain might have other ideas

adi B Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Bhuvi hasn't played Tests in Aus conditions too so hard to compare there too i never want to compare these young new bowlers unless they play considerable amount of games like ishant () but since mtc challenged/questioned,i obliged the same, nothing more
