Because we are a shyte team away from home and WI and Australia are known for their performance away. To top it all this is the same jackass who thinks away matches are for practice.
I did not really read it but I thought it was about winning World Cup twice in row ... And I feel with one or 2 changes team will perform in Odis it's not that hopeless

You're living in fantasy land if you think we will make the finals of the next WC.

Lol now he gets stick for saying this. I bet everyone would be having tears of joy if there was a young captain in his place and said the same thing. What else should he have said? We don't wanna defend our WC? You all will be owned.

Not yet! Last innings was pure luck' date=' one innings doesn't say anything.[/quote'] Pure luck ? C'mon. It wasn't flawless I agree but its so demeaning to say that.

The format of the WC is such that you only need to win 3 knockout games to win the cup. India, and most of the other top teams, should make it to Q/F and from then it's all about the hottest team. Two thing which works for us are... 1. India are mostly slow starters (bar the Champions Trophy) but this format will allow the team to hit their stride by the time knockouts roll in. 2. India does well in knockouts, especially since Dhoni took over. We do well in crunch games and for us the problem is mostly to get to the knockout stage. Once we are there, we suddenly become a different team.

So Dhoni aims to do what Australia did? In the space from 1996-2011. Australia in that period of time was 39-7-1 39 wins 7 Losses to Windies (96), Sri Lanka (96/WO), Sri Lanka (96), Pakistan (99), New Zealand (99), Pakistan (11), India (11) 1 tie to SA (99) No one in the space of 15 years can do it. If India is going to win in Australia/NZ they can't play two spinners especially with a new ball on each end and how small NZ grounds are. Batting wise they'll be fine in NZ and places like Adelaide, so yeah they will be fine but I don't see them winning the WC.

The batting wasn't good in the NZ series, it was oka but certainly not good. Apart from Dhobi and Kohli there was virtually no one else.

They play UAE at the WACA and Windies in the WACA as well along with SA in Melbourne.

As much as I agree with what you are saying, what else do you think he should have said? You want him to openly admit that we are s#it and stand no chance?

we just won the champions trophy in a crushing manner in England in 2013... Its basically boils down to 3 knockout matches as ultimate game has said. We will be in Aus for close to 2 months prior to the WC. By all means be critical of Dhoni in tests away from home or even T20s. But he has earned the right to say what he wants in the ODIs. There is a track record of him winning major ICC events for India.
