Depressingly defensive captain' date='same team combination, same players, same tactics and same results.[/quote'] +1000 Its not just about the losses. He keeps making the same mistakes over and over again and doesnt learn a thing. I used to be a fan but then I realized how stubborn and ignorant he is. I cant see India winning anything overseas with him as captain.

OKay, bring such threads when the game is over. India is not losing this first of all and we aren't drawing it either. We are going to win this shyt.
All we going to win is shyt, not a test match. :((

DK wasn't really doing fine. He did excellently for a while as an opener (not keeper)' date=' and then his form dropped off.[/quote'] I am talking before Dhoni replaced him in the test team.

I don't remember him doing much, apart from an attractive 90-odd, bu then it could be my meory. The point is that Dhobi's selection back then made sense - it doesn't now. Saha, Pappu and DK all do better in domestic cricket than he does. And there are others such as Gautam, Kaul, etc as well.

Dravid's unexpected resgination from captaincy & kumble's form accelarated Dhoni's ascent to Indian captaincy..

Me too,I used to defend him during 0-8. Now the team has young blood,he is the senior most player and commands respect. He can mould the team however he wants and yet he is quite content to meander along with his bizzare selections and tactics. Frankly sick of his captaincy these days.Better to get a new captain and let him focus on his batting,im sure he can offer more in that department.

And he will crib how Saurav had a batting lineup of Sehwag,Gauti,Rahul,Sachin,VVS and Saurav. Whereas he has been losing seniors one by one since Sauravs retirement which has not helped his cause. He has to take some responsibility for such bad record in non Asian conditions.

Interesting comparison. Both were not good captains at all' date=' but the former got a shorter run.[/quote'] Because Sachin's team was purely crap like it was MSK Prasad literally opening the batting with Gandhi at one match.

There were plenty of dubious selections there too, with lots of undeserving Mumbai players such as Mambrey, Kulkarni, Bahutule, Dighe, etc playing but the point was that they were only given 1-2 matches. Whereas Ish has played 55 matches.

dravid and ganguly has better win/ lose ratio
Because they had good technical knowledge of the game, which you need as a test captain and something that Dhoni lacks. He is also way too adamant and inflexible to adapt. He mostly sticks to the formula which brought him success in certain conditions. I reckon Gambhir would have made a better test captain but he struggled as a batsman and couldn't score runs to save his life and rightly dropped.
