Another important thing is Zak doesnt put a lot of body in his action. He doesnt bend his back and hit the deck and doesnt get bounce or pace of the pitch like SA, Aus or NZ bowlers. He mostly floats the ball across the surface looking for swing. This is a characteristic of most Indian seamers.

yes, Umesh Yadav is the most talented bowler in India..I don't think Shami,Aaron etc are long term options.

If you were made Aus selector McGrath would have never played test cricket. Or Philander for SA.

Mcgrath was 140 when he debuted. Philander only debuted once he averaged 19 in FC and is far more accurate than Zak ever was and hits the deck hard, not just loops like Zak is doing.

Sandeep Sharma is taking loads in FC cricket. Bags of wickets. Swings it , great skill. BUT is not good enough for international level. Just too slow, especially for tests! These medium pacers can have a role in odis sometimes but that's it. Top wicket takers in FC cricket often are willing work horses, can bowl long spells, day in day out. Grinding away collecting wickets. Something to be admired. But this sadly does not make them suitable for the heights of international cricket and the x factor needed. You need to look at their raw ingredients at international level. Similarly often the fast bowlers who will do well at test level wont pick up loads of wickets at FC level. As they wont do the donkey work of long spells, on so many matches at so many different venues. That's were selectors need to identify the skills, wether can deliver at top level. One such skill is pace, of course others are important but less not pretend that pace is not one of those vital skills. Has to be at least 85mph imo. Look at top wicket takers in English county cricket last year. Trundling work horses. None of them gets even a look in to England set up, as they identify young fast bowlers with raw materials to get in early and groom and develop. Last thing they want is a willing work horse who gives his all day in day out on county circuit but in reality will have no impact at top level.

Sad to see Zak getting this kind of a ridicule.....He is the forgotten architect of our glory days when we were a No1....Yes Johnson is a beast right now but even he would tell you that Zak is an ocean of knowledge when it comes to Left-arm bowling. He is done and should be out of the squad but stop ridiculing a guy who has been one of our heroes in the last few years. Zak in his prime when he was a 130-135 bowler(when he was 140 was never this good) could outbowl M.J on pattas even with his 145-150 speeds

Then get him in the odi squad at least and see how he goes. The WC will be in Aus and NZ and if we can get someone who can swing the ball and get early wkts, it will solve a lot of our problems in shorter formats at least. At the moment we got our @$$es handed 0-4 by NZ in odis as well.

Johnson vs Umesh? Umesh would have failed in most aspects lol We have to stop using Mitch as a template. He is clearly outbowling his own bowlers like Harris who is streets ahead of any of our bowlers. He even outbowls ATG like Steyn.

Guys like Steyn and Mitch have that intimidation factor l plus they have reputation Yadav on the other hand does not have that intimidation factor or reputation.

Steyn is always accurate. MJ is getting dangerously accurate especially with bouncers.
