Vijay is a descent opener at least he was getting starts the only fault he is not converting it into big ones even here in Newzealand he was ok.

Ashwin might actually be handier as a batsman in england. India must take a gamble and play 5 bowlers. Mooli for me is not good enough in away conditions. Over South Africa and NZ he is averaging some like less than 30 with the bat. Not good enough. Push Pujara to open. Most of the time the poor guy is coming out pretty early anyway.

he was spectacular for mumbai in the knock outs when we won the ranji trophy last season. Was man of the match in the final v Saurashtra. His season he was kept out by injury. You are not going to find a better alternative for the tests within ranji

I can see guys like Cook,Bell,Root and even the lower order batsman scoring heavily and making career best scores against this bowling attack :((

The batting for me is less of a concern (still a concern) but lets solve the first problem of consistently being able to take 20 wickets. To me, to take 20 wickets, India need a new captain (Kohli seems like the best choice imo.) and a completely new pace attack. We need genuine firepower. Umesh Yadav has to provide that. I don't rate Varun Aaron as highly because he doesn't seem to bowl a 'heavy' ball. I'd still keep him in the squad but not in my first XI. Pankaj Singh has to get a look in now. The spinner is the biggest gap imo. Ashwin & Jadeja don't have the genuine strikepower outside of India. Neither does Ojha. If we want a spinner to simply tie up one end then Jadeja is the best option but I think we need to look for a genuine turner of the ball. Someone who can really let that ball rip (even if they are not as accurate). However ... Nothing is going to change bowling wise. 3 of the same 4 bowlers that got smashed in Australia 4-0 in 2011/12 are almost guaranteed of a spot to England.

This thread lost all credibility with this post. Jadeja useless in Eng? He is perhaps the most useful player. One of the most useful players in the world in ENG conditions. He becomes a Warne and like a quick hitting Bradman in those conditions. Plus fielding.
