Rahane can rotate strike hopefully. Rohit is not a long term option because he's too slow. Give rahane a chance to open. If he fails after some games then time to remove him from odis. Pujara at 4, makes sense. I would have rayudu at 5 and dk at 6 as WK. DK more suited to tests but he'll fit in this temporary squad. OR have dk at 5, binny at 6, jadeja 7, ashwin 8 then shami/bhuvi, pandey and aaron

At least, Rohit has showed he can do the job in SC conditions, Champions Trophy and West Indies tri series. He scored a double ton as an opener against Australia, gave good opening partnerships in CT, WI tri series and hit a couple of fifties in NZ IIRC. :dontknow:

Once MSD & Raina comes back Kohli can be moved back to no.3 Horses for courses really. Our best batsman has to play most of the overs. It doesnt make sense to have our best batsmen come to bat possibly after 25 or 30 overs are finished. Kohli has always done well at 3 and he feels most comfortable in that position. No point in changing that.

After SA test series, he looked a bit out of touch and low on confidence. Even Dhawan looked the same but he came back into form in the test series. Rohit did well in ODIs before SA series, so there's no harm in giving him a few chances in Asia Cup at least. Or I would like to see Pujara open the innings and Rohit at 5. Rahane has already opened for India and didnt look comfortable.

I don't want Kohli to be moved fromt his #3 slot but Rohit could go back to #4 and Pujara opening for the sake of balancing the side. Missing Yuvi big time. Rohit sucks at #4 anyhow. Would make a good tail ender. Slogging all day long !

Dhawan Rohit Pujara Kohli Rayadu DK Jadega Ash Pandey Aaron Sham i wud play 4 pacers and Jadeja - Dhawan ,Pujara,Kohli , Rohit sharma at no 4, Raydu, DK at 6 - i beleive one out of kohli, Pujara , shikhar and rohit wud play the entire 50 overs...DK and raydy will support, Raydu or rahane who ever looks good but i guess raydu was a success in t 20 so he cud get a chance , if pujara fails or bats too slow than tahane replaces him. But i wud go with 4 pacers and Jadeja.. Bhuvi shammi aaron pandey or Binny.... with Pujara coming in there are chances that our batting wud become more stable and hence even an attacking pace bowler like pandey can play.
adi B Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 the team and order has to be: dhawan pujara kohli rahane nohit Dk ashwin(should have been dropped :facepalm:) jadeja bhuvi aaron shami a lower order hitter should have been selected like raina (who is a decent option in SC). too many top order batsmen are selected,pujara has to open,he cant play below #4. rayudu's a hack but he can fit in if any player under-performs
