Jersey #10 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I think it's a great idea. To add to this, maybe they can have censors on either sides of the crease and let the technology decide the run outs/stumpings.
Crookbond Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 IIRC, It was initially implemented in the BBL, Australia and that's where they liked it. The stumps/bails are quite expensive though.
StriKe Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 The high-tech stumps, marketed as ‘Zings’ by an Australian firm, are expensive and thus precious. “We have $40,000 worth of patented technology out on the field at each game and that is a lot of money. Each bail costs as much as an iPhone. We can’t afford to give them away to players at the end of a game,” says Zings inventor Bronte Eckermann. He is always stationed next to the boundary rope and gets restless towards the end of the game. “I will chase the players and get the stumps and bails back if they try to get away with them,” he adds with a hearty laugh. http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/zing-thing-40k-glowing-stumps-to-add-glitter-to-world-t20/
SLICKR392 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 IIRC' date=' It was initially implemented in the BBL, Australia and that's where they liked it. The stumps/bails are quite expensive though.[/quote'] 40-50K INR. Not sure if that's 50K per bail.

moniker Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Entertains the audience no doubt but may distract the umpire. It looks like the stumps light up when the ball strikes them which could be before the bail comes off. Might lead to incorrect run out decisions.
Sidhoni Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 IIRC' date=' It was initially implemented in the BBL, Australia and that's where they liked it. The stumps/bails are quite expensive though.[/quote'] Yup, one bail is equal to an iPhone :giggle:

rkt.india Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Yup' date=' one bail is equal to an iPhone :giggle:[/quote'] but actual manufacturing cost of an Iphone5 was around 210 dollars. Samsung's galaxy S3, S4 were costlier to manufacture than an Iphone.
