No senior BJP leader wants to contest from there. The entire point was to find somebody to take on Kejri who would be a serious enough threat to stop him campaigning all over the city. This is why the likes of Akilesh Yadav and Mayawati were MLC's its so they have the freedom to campaign all over the state. Lets not beat around the bush Imli is an opportunist. The only reason she left AAP was because she did not get a ticket in the lok sabha in the city of new delhi. She wants to be the muslim face of the BJP. Thats her new game play. 99% she will lose to Kejriwal. But she knows that the BJP is big enough a party for her to be accommodated. They probably dont have a religious angle to this. As mentioned before nobody wanted to challenge Kejriwal for fear of losing so they got an outsider. I have read stories that Kiran Bedi's name was doing the rounds as well. Another person part of team Anna. Nobody said the BJP are clean in all of this. Forget Ilmi somebody like Paswan actually quit the cabinet in 2002/3 because of Modi and 10 years on is singing his praises. The BJP were more than happy to accept him. Lastly you need to look at the title of this thread. Its called the BJP thread. Most post are going to be from the POV of the party, right or wrong.
