Read from the start. One poster said all our pacers who wbol 140 plus are short like Shami, Umesh, Aaron, etc. and tall pacers are not. Then some one said Umesh isnt short and he is 6'2" which he isn't. "being an inch taller or shorter" was to prove Umesh isn't as tall as the posted said.

vishalvirsingh Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 thats not true buddy. keeping to spinners is much more difficult than keeping to pacers. and keeping to swing bowling trundlers is more difficult than keeping to fast bowlers. this is coz with trundlers, ball always comes to keeper on second bounce which is very difficult for a keeper. also swinging ball is more difficult to collect than quicker balls. in short fast bowlers are the easiest of all for keepers. you can check this with any wicket keeper you know. i have also seen some others say dhoni is scared of keeping to fast bowlers. thats not true as well. if that was the case how would he come upto stumps for bowlers like mohit, bhuvi, pandey, ... who are bowling at 135 kph. thats the most dangerous thing a keeper can do. having said all this i too don't know why he picks ishant sharma over other quicker bowlers time and again :) i guess only he himself knows that. I tried my hand at keeping once and i experienced that i could do an OK JOB to Spinners but i cud not handle keeping to pacers and also got hit a few times on my fingers etc.... end of the day i realised that my hands were paining - i had never before realised that the keeper's JOB is so TUF.. if the keeper does not grab the fast bowl properly - he gets a good HIT...at least that happened to me .. may be i cud not grab the balls properly in my gloves as i am not a keeper... had to keep just as a cover..

I agree completely. Dhoni is basically a LOI player and does not really have the mindset to play or captain in a test match. He is always thinking from a LOI point of view, preferably if it is played in the subcontinent. He is not even comfortable with spinners who turn the ball big but have the tendency to give away some runs in an attempt to purchase wickets. Ashwin has become a more defensive bowler under him and is turning the ball less.

He's coming off 2 5-fors. They may potentially be the most damaging 5 wicket hauls in India's history. It's pretty clear for everyone in world cricket to see that India's best attack does not include Ishant Sharma.

keith Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Why did your batsmen get out to him? NZ were sent in to bat on two of the greenest wickets seen in Test cricket in recent years. On top of that, they had 2 openers who were pretty much sacrificial.
