Sangakkara is a legend

Recommended Posts

Really liked the classy send off every South AFrican player gave him...De Kock a Wicket keeper top order batsman himself showed clear admiration the way he was shaking his hands at the end...credit were due,the guy might be an irritating on and off field personality but no denying that he is or now was a gun player

Some of you posters are sore losers. He is one of the modern day greats. Sad to see him retire like this. Not exactly a fairytale ending but hats off to him for being such a great competitor in the game. World cricket will definitely miss him.
Err .. Every year he will be retiring. Last year In T20, ghis year ODIs, end of ghis year or next year in tests. He is great, but remember that legends like Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag etc did not even get farewell. So Sanga should be happy that he is going out on his own terms. This is his destiny good and bad. Good winning the T20 cup, bad -playing the worst innings and getting out ( probably god wanted to do this for his karma of cheating several times in ODIs).

Dravid and Laxman saw the writing on the wall and they also had some suitable replacements ready for international cricket knocking on the door.....but still there is a debate i they hung around a little longer.......Sehwag was dropped period and deservingly so. With Sanga, looking at the backup players,he could have gone on and on and on.

lol @ people saying this match will be a blot on his career. He top scored while the rest of the order fell apart, what the hell do you expect him to do? He could have gone for a 96 India vs SL Semi Aravinda-esque attack but to be frank, the SL middle order is sh*t compared to what it was in 96 so that was not an option and Aravinda was a better cricketer anyways(talent wise not statistically).

This was a shite innings. At one point he had 6 off 43 balls. What has a weak middle order to do with taking singles and rotating the strike? Sanga simply choked under pressure on this day and he caused batsmen at the other end to choke as well.

Yep, exclude that one 10+ run over (too little, too late) and the rest of his innings was very poor. Clearly, his nerviness affected the rest of the team , bar Thirimanne who was batting nicely.

He had the liberty and the form to play on for another five years like Sachin did :giggle: just to get into the record books... If he had done that im sure Sachin would have lost his "precious" :giggle: records... Also one must not forget that even though sangakkara is retiring now his test average is much higher than That of Sachin

Thats coz sanga played in an era where it was much easier to score runs. Also sachins bad form came in 2012. When he'd already made 15000 runs. Sachin entered the record books for most test runs in 2008, so he didnt keep playing to get into the record books. Sanga is not as good as sachin, the whole world knows this Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2

Another 100 today against Northamptonshire :hail:. 443 runs @ avg of 64 with 2 100s in FC this season. Why the hell is he retiring this July? If he plays on he will end up overtaking Sachin's records at a much superior average of close to 60 the way he is going. Guess not all play for individual milestones :idunno:. Most Asian players find the going tough in County but this guy is something else. :hatsoff:

sachin >> sanga .. no doubt but whole world knows sachin played for 100th 100 even after scoring 15k test runs :winky:

Definite ATG of the game. Statistically better than any other sub-continent batsman, but poor guy don't have much opportunities to play outside Asia. Had he played in alien conditions more and would still manage that record, would have retired as best Asian player.
