Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Then please post the actual quote and the actual orders. We will know whether it was lost in translation or not. I have posted ET as a source' date=' lets see yours.[/quote'] Dr Harsh Vardhan defended his views, saying, "An impression is sought to be created that I have misgivings about the efficacy of condoms or that I have a moral problem with condoms. This is apart from the fact because for the past two decades I have been stressing the need for safe sex using a combination of condoms and discipline which is in line with the Abstinence-Be Faithful-Condom (ABC) line of UNAIDS." He continued, "Any experienced NGO activist knows that condoms sometimes break while being used. That is why government campaigns in India should focus on safe sex as a holistic concept which includes highlighting the role of fidelity to single partners." http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/no-moral-problem-with-condoms-but-fidelity-safest-harsh-vardhan-clarifies-547784 the takeaway is that condoms are a pre-requisite,but in addition,it is important to maintain one partner so that if there's a problem with the condom, you don't get into trouble

Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Why tone down the emphasis on condoms or talk about the morality of "pre-marital sex"? you can fault him on moral grounds based on your morals or preaching, not what you perceive as toning down.
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 you can fault him on moral grounds based on your morals or preaching' date='not what you perceive as toning down.[/quote'] Harshvardhan said - (1) Tone down on the emphasis of condoms and (2) Avoid pre-marital sex. Can you tell us on what "you think" it means?

randomGuy Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Harshvardhan said - (1) Tone down on the emphasis of condoms and (2) Avoid pre-marital sex. Can you tell us on what "you think" it means? When they make a 20 sec advertisement or put 20ft X 20ft banners for AIDS awareness, they mention how HIV spreads (Unsafe sex, blood transfusion, pregnant mom to child) and how it doesn't spread (touching, eating together etc). Now what may probably happen is the talk about Indian culture, monogamy, sex only with someone you're gonna marry or similar irrelevant BS will eat time/space meant for the revelant stuff in those Ads and banners.

Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 where did he say that? Like I Said, comprehend the message not just read statements in isolation He has asked the NACO minister to act on those two points, re:ET article.
Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 He has asked the NACO minister to act on those two points' date=' re:ET article.[/quote'] where's his quote? you said he quoted it
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 where's his quote? you said he quoted it The quote was from a NACO representative. (Post #40). Later, I used Harshvardhan "said" when I should have written Harshvardhan "has ordered" the NACO to (1) Tone down condom use and (2) Stress on morals like not indulging in pre-marital sex.
Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I wish someone finds a cure to AIDS soon haha, you think that will shut them up? :p
Detonator Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 haha' date='you think that will shut them up? :p[/quote'] Let me try twisting my own statement. :(( My statement is flawed. If someone finds a cure, more people will get courage and will not get afraid of catching HIV, since there is a cure. The number of deaths will actually increase. Prevention is better than cure. Better prevent AIDS using 3 condoms at a time :((

Later' date=' I used Harshvardhan "said" when I should have written Harshvardhan "has ordered" the NACO to (1) Tone down condom use and (2) Stress on morals like not indulging in pre-marital sex.[/quote'] Again wrong, where has he asked them to tone down use?
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Again wrong' date='where has he asked them to tone down use?[/quote'] Tone down emphasis on condom use. Re : Post#40 Clearly, you know it was typo. Post #40 and once against Post #40
maniac Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I guess Dexter Morgan just like his Sherlock Avatar is trying to decipher some code in Harshavardhan's statements, to uncover some sinister secret ulterior motive :giggle: Here is the quote from the article posted in the OP Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that to prevent AIDS, promoting condom usage is not enough So does that in the evil sinister language of Harshavardhan mean, reduction in the amount of focus that is put towards promoting the usage? Or does it mean stopping the promotion of Condom usage completely? Maybe he should have said we Indians are oftem misunderstood,We are a cool and tolerant nation and culture and we love swingers, prostitutes and multiple partners at the same time, since we are so cool just promoting Condom usage will be enough to eliminate AIDS from the map of India :two_thumbs_up:
rkt.india Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I do no think you will have AIDS just because you had sex with multiple partners. Only if you have sex who is infected with HIV. Am I right or wrong?
