express bowling Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 Has Akashdeep lost pace ? From bowling 133 k to 145 k in his debut test and averaging around 137 k ... he was bowling 128 k to 137 k today and in earlier matches. Today his accuracy was missing too. Earlier we were assuming that he was bowling slower as he was recovering from dengue. But a long time has elapsed and he should be back to near full pace now. Worrying signs ? @Mosher, @Suhaan, @Lone Wolf, @singhvivek141, @rkt.india Mosher and Suhaan 2

iroman Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Guys, has anyone noticed the Pakistan offspinner Sajid Ali? He is taking tons of wickets in Tests. I never could tell if the arm is straight or not. To me, all I could judge was if the action looked clean or not. Wanted to see if anyone has noticed his action, and if you all think it is clean. I would appreciate any thoughts.

Worrying signs going into BGT. can not lose 5-7 kmph in less than 6 months without an injury or niggle. Either he was pushing in his 1st test match those were v.near to his ipl/t20 speeds and in this test he is back to his natural tests speed or been asked to hold back on pace. Or v.well could be because pant is nt fully fit and they donot want to spray the ball much that pant has to dive around - -- just a wild wild guess During Asia cup (in which ind was unable to make it to the final) Gambhir was critical of Avesh khan's lack or pace as asking if tm has asked him to bowl bit slow. Siraj has been down on pace for nearly 1/1.5 yrs now. he has declined v.steeply Edited October 25, 2024 by tapandrun

Before dusra came in as a off-spinner they have be side on to get side-ways spin, when dusra came bowlers had to become a bit open chested Edited October 25, 2024 by tapandrun

He is more of a 133-140 kph bowler, can push himself to clock 143-144 but that's his peak pace, cant sustain it for longer period. Though, I would raise my concern on the speedometer as well, many deliveries looked quicker to me but only clocked 130-131 on the machine. Not sure how legitimate they are. One good thing is yesterday he was running at full pace, in the Duleep trophy and the previous test vs Ban, his runup was slower. tapandrun and tweaker 2

He is grabbing wickets for fun. Pakistan may have found a seriously good spinner after a long time.

Suhaan Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 After Bharat Arun, Indian pace attack has certainly regresses a lot With Bumrah on the verge of decline due to age,we will stoop low further We were lucky enough to have a rising Umesh,Shami,Ishant alongwith Bumrah together well guided by Arun There will be massive hole after Bumrah with no able replacement for him all the time wasted on Mukesh,Avesh etc adds to it Mosher and express bowling 2

MK55 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 (edited) I am honestly not that impressed with Akashdeep. Partly because I’ve been spoilt by a 4-7 year younger Shami. He doesn’t have the pace of Umesh in home conditions (in his prime) which could have helped reversing. Also, he doesn’t have that nip off the surface that Shami brings in. He reminds me of the mediocrity we manufactured in the past. His first test’s speeds is an aberration . I’ve never heard him being a quick bowler at any stage in his career. This is more the normal or rather expected. These idiots should have tried Harshit by now at the bare minimum instead of persisting with a lost cause like Siraj. Anyways he deserves a few games as I feel he’s an upgrade over the current Siraj at least. Edited October 25, 2024 by MK55

Neither medium pace nor quick. 130 to 140 / 141 k was always expected from him even in FC. He is bowling 3 k to 4 k slower than his average speed range of the past. Now he is operating at Mukesh / Unadkat level. Mosher 1

But averaging 131 - 133 k nowadays. 137 k to 139 k Average speed in test matches is fast .. genuine express pacers average 140 k to 143 k in tests overall. ( not talking about 1 or 2 quickest innings ). Edited October 25, 2024 by express bowling tapandrun and Mosher 2

Even lower than what I was expecting his long term average to be.
