It would be wonderful if Mayank Yadav gets fit for test matches and ODIs

Harshit joining Bumrah has given our attack a lot more fire and teeth.

Bumrah, Harshit, Mayank and Shami bowling together would give us an awesome pace attack.

I would be happy to see Mayank become a regular in shorter formats. Don't think his body will be able to handle Tests.

He will be after he strengthens his body.

Let him play T20s and ODIs first. Tests is way too far for him. Pattinson couldn't play Tests due to his body not holding up. Pandya couldn't do it either and there're plenty of other examples. Don't think it's a given Mayank will be able to do so when he has been struggling to bowl 4 overs a match.

Shastri was saying that Hardik is not interested in playing any format except T20s. ODIs are being forced on him. If he was very serious about tests, his fitness might not have been a big impediment.

Pattinson played 21 tests and might have played a lot more if Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood were not blocking spots.

Fitness issues are normal for quick bowlers.

He's not interested as his body can't hold up. We've seen that already. It's not as if he's fit enough to play all formats. Pattinson stopped playing longer formats and is retired now IIRC as his body couldn't take it. Aussies tried everything but his body couldn't handle it and that's when they moved to Hazlewood. Some people can't handle fast bowling or their bodies are brittle. Shane Watson was also like that - always plagued with injuries.

Mayank has to show he can even last 4 overs before thinking of playing ODIs. Tests is a stretch for him and I wouldn't hold my breath.

Also Ferguson often gets injured comes back and then gets injured again..so its tough..

however since Mayank didnt play enough cricket earlier so we will see how his body is normal response when its strengthened enough with proper diet, practice and experience..As of now his body is raw..

This is going to be interesting for Jaiswal now. Australia have stationed a straightish third man and I think a fine leg. And bowling short. Almost got caught.

Shastri was talking about when Hardik was starting off in international cricket.

Mayank is just 22 and has not played that much cricket. Plus he has a protein deficient diet according to Cooley.

We can't compare him to pacers who had major fitness issues past age 25.  He has played 17 List A matches taking 34 wickets at 21.6. So it's not like he can't bowl 10 overs a day.

Let him increase his protein intake and strengthen his muscles and then we can assess his real fitness. If he still has repeated injury issues at age 26+ then he maybe considered for LOIs only. Not at such a young age or at a stage when he has training and diet related issues not yet addressed.

Starc continuously hitting 142-143 in this heat.
Thats the kind of fitness that’s required if you want to be a successful fast bowler.

Starc is a natural quick. He probably has the highest % of 140 k+ balls in tests in the Speed gun era after Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar.  Not considering Wood as he misses too many tests to achieve high pace.

[  It is another issue that in the pre-speed gun era, every quick pacer could bowl 150 k+ all day in tests throughout their careers and struggled to touch 140 k when speed tests were conducted with video coverage. Camera shy probably :phehe: ]

Cummins short ball is causing YJ issues.

Jaiswal has issues when ball is short on leg side because he bats very side on like Ganguly.
