Darkest period regarding new pacer development was Chetan Sharma's tenure.

Bumrah got injured in mid 2022 and he introduced Unadkat and Mukesh Kumar ( all 3 formats ). Probably Avesh too.

He had chance to select Kuldeep Sen after his 8 wicket haul in Irani trophy, but he selected Mukesh.

He had no foresight to select a bowler and played it safe by selecting Mukesh.

Lots of time, series, matches were wasted in selecting Mukesh,Jaydeo,Avesh, Harshal and we got 0 results,

Indian Chief Selectors List .....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_national_cricket_team_selectors

Syed Kirmani 2002–2004[7][8]
Kiran More 2004–2006[9]
Dilip Vengsarkar 2006–2008[10]
Kris Srikkanth 2008–2012[11]
Sandeep Patil 2012–2016[12]
M. S. K. Prasad 2016–2020
Sunil Joshi 2020
Chetan Sharma 2020–2023
Shiv Sunder Das (interim) 2023
Ajit Agarkar 2023–present

Darkest period regarding new pacer development was Chetan Sharma's tenure.

Bumrah got injured in mid 2022 and he introduced Unadkat and Mukesh Kumar ( all 3 formats ). Probably Avesh too.

Every other Chief Selector tried to bring in quick pacers with skills.

If we listen to Chetan's commentary we can see how regressive his mindset is. Entire thought process is about promoting mediocre cricketers. Similar to Malhotra.

@Mosher, @Suhaan, @singhvivek141, @Lone Wolf, @tapandrun, @Rightarmfast, @tweaker @Need4Speed, @bouncers

Even MSK Prasad's tenure was lacklusture. He was hell bent on pushing Bhuvi over Shami/Umesh in ODIs. CT 2017 & ODI WC 2019, was pushing weak VJ Shankar for allrounder position. :cantstop:

Chota Chetan is a chameleon, on mic he will talk loudly about fast bowlers...off mic he despises them favouring trundlers. Dravid took most of the heat and this guy smartly escaped all the criticism.

I'd really be interested to know his understanding of modern day sports fitness and techniques. This buffoon got a chance to play for India for so long because Kapil had him there owing to being a Haryanvi. ( I have nothing against Haryanavi's, tbh).

Just the other day I heard him say somewhere that he never gets impressed by pace. Sure!

I bet he doesn't get impressed by brain either. Because that's another thing that he lacks in.

You don't need enemies when you have such people, such rodents within the infra-strucure hellbent upon chewing it dry.

I strongly feel people like Varun Aaron and Ashish Nehra need to be given such important roles.

Chetan Sharma is haryanvi ?

I thought he was from Raj or UP/UTK.

Nowadays Chetan says that he does not get excited by pace. Line and length are the only important things. Pitch it up and swing it.

Even in this game, he was criticizing Siraj for trying to bowl too fast when he was clocking 127 k to 133 k. How slow does he want them to be ?

Was praising Needhesh saying he pitches it up and does not try too hard.

Bowling with effort seems to be a dirty thing in the minds of the older Indian cricketers. Malhotra says similar things.

RP isnt very intelligent as well.

Anyways, usually chief selector is on rotation...so it depends which zone will get preference.

Maybe it's the turn of East Zone or Central Zone...South, North & West have got their share of chief selection.

Previous tm had no plans, even till asa cup before the wc they looked lost and out of ideas, luckily for them Iyer and  Bhumrah returned to the wc with form.

There were no plans , only objective was to keep things clam between kolhi and rohit.  There was Odi series vs SA Ind had a chance to bring somenew pacer as main team was preparing for something else , they brought back Umesh for that serires.

There was no plan to develop next inline players be it batters or bowlers. Ind does not have back-up fr Ashwin, no one introduced when Ind was losing players like Ishant and Umesh and shami was ageing and no back-ups for Pujara and rahane.

This was the 1st tm in years to have no roadmap. they wasted time with Avesh/Mukesh/Unadkat etc.
