I like how kohli uses ishant in short spells as strike bolwer rather than as workhorse by dhoni.Ishant seems to maintain his action and pace well.I would not be surprised if he improves rapidly h is just 26.

Interesting... that 31 avg was pretty good, by modern standards but this avg of 38.2 is again quite pathetic.

Umesh has bowled with more control than he usually does. As for Ishant, leaked another 4 just now.

I think, he is looking for control, coz, when on song, he usually cranks 143-148 with fastest upto 150-151 kph.

This thread can be used again now that we are playing Test matches. Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma, all three are easily bowling at speeds of 140-147k in Test matches which is a good sign.Ishant Sharma is back to his original speeds after few years and even Umesh Yadav is not scared in Test matches and bowls 140-145k whereas few matches back he had reduced his speeds to 135-140k even in ODI's.

 

Varun Aaron is not backing down, he goes all-out all the times and has previously told in interviews that he is not going to decrease his speed. He has modified his action a bit and has gained more control and he still bowls those fast dangerous bouncers.

143 k - at release

139 k - before pitching

83 k - after pitching

72 k  - when batsman is playing

Not much to talk about Indian pacers in this test

But Ishant bowled good a  line and length at 135 k to 141 k and got the older ball to reverse. Got some seam movements too. Was economical and these are good signs. It would have been even better if he got late reverse swing.
