What if Stuart binny plays next test match?

Binny was picked ahead of Rohit Sharma to do the 5th bowler's job, which was to hold one end up while the front line bowlers got a breather. He was never expected to tear through the opposition batting, although in swinging conditions that might yet be a distinct possibility. That Dhoni only bowled him 10 overs speaks more about Dhoni's captaincy and the state of the pitch than Binny's ability. And when he got his chance with the bat, he took it, and thank God for that. I personally feel Binny deserves one more chance, and not least because we do not have a world beater sitting on the bench waiting for his turn. And no, tried-and-tested pretenders like Rohit and Ashwin do not count as world beaters despite their IPL exploits.
If the idea was to kick Rohit sharma out, that move worked like a charm except Dhobi acted like jackass when he did not give him even a decent length of spell. He even gave two overs to Murali VIjay. With a relatively new ball he should have tried. Ishant with new ball is a freaking joke. Awful scrambled seam and banging the ball half way down ball deteriorated very quickly right there. Since shami was over used with old ball just before taking new ball (another Dhoni's brainf***) he used Ishant. Binny should have been given a new ball as he is primarily a conventional swing bowler more than Ishant has ever been. Dhoni does not even know what the strengths of each bowler, what the weaknesses of each bowler hence f**ed up decision. Ya.. you got a crap bowler.. but when you use him , use the best way possible not sit on your ass and blame him after the match . Someone like Stephen Fleming would have led the same side with much more thinking.

From a neutral standpoint, since Indian fast bowlers bowl 128 -138 and medium pacers 125-130 Binny's 120 dibbly dobbly is good enough pace for us from an all-rounder, Ashwin got some easy ton's and also some pressure free lower order runs, i am not sure if he could have done what Binny did last match, save a test with a serious innings. Next pitch will definitely have some green tinge on it, Binny might do better. Same players will be retained as Dhoni will not change the team.

what easy tons? Yes, they were at home but his second 100 was scored at back to the wall situation. We were 156\6 when he scored his 2nd ton.

so he isnt a bowler then. He played because he could bat and bowl a few overs like Ganguly used to do. While Dhoni in every time asked about Binny said we wanted to play with 5 bowlers and he wasnt given many overs because he was completely ineffective.

He should have been handed a relatively new ball me thinks. You could have something out of him. Don't think jadeja was effective eithe.r Most of the bowlers were ineffective. Even with 4 full time seamers they gave bulk of overs to rank part timer Moeen. No point in bowling everyone to the ground . Dhoni used Binny in the least effective way possible hence the result. He is not an out and out specialist bowler. He is not an out and out part timer too. Somewhere in between who provide some relief to other bowlers which Dhoni failed to take advantage of. At some point other bowlers looked far more ineffective than Binny.

Why are people hating on Binny? It makes no sense. You can not rate him' date=' but he performed excellently.[/quote'] No one is hating him. He did well with the bat but it does not solve our 4th and 5th bowling problem.

When was the last time in our test history we discarded someone in the next test after he saved his debut test for us? I cant remember any such instance in the last 25 years.
