Jadeja provides a spark in the lower order with the bat and is brilliant in the field and is a reliable, accurate bowler. I was a doubter in the past but he's too good of an all-round package to drop. I dont think he is good enough to be the only spinner in the side. But as a second spinner i'll take him any day of the week. He is an AMAZING 5th bowler in a team Think about it this way -- Jadeja would walk into ANY non-SC team as a specialist bowler alone. For us he offers so much more. If not for Jad we might have lost this test.

Laloo bhai' date= jisko trundler bola usne do 50ers le liye 3 50s maar diye. ABhi Binny ko gaali de raho, ye bhi perform karega
I was wrong about bhuvi. now onto binny, why would you include him? Dhoni doesnt even bowl him.

No we would have won it a lot sooner if we had bowled our pacers more yesterday and included a 4th seamer instead of binny. It was a heaven for fast bowlers yesterday after lunch actually.
Dude were you watching Jadeja bowl? Every ball was grippng and turning square, it was lovely to watch. Yeah he didn't pick up wickets but man, Ash would've mopped up on that with his variations, bounce, and turn

Rohit has played 10 innings. 2 hundreds and one fifty. Not bad IMO. But those who don't like him (or as most ICFers would say these days "hate" him), will keep on criticizing him and would never want him in the team.
I don't mind giving him a chance. Still young and a good player but as of now, having Ashwin is more ideal. Will let us include a seamer in. Honestly, I don't like him but that has nothing to do with me asking him not to be included.

Dhoni does not make changes in the team, even when it is loosing, highly unlikely to change a winning unit. But Binny is a weak link,Dhoni should strengthened it by bringing in any of the fast bowler from the reserve

But I didnt get the point of bowling part timers at the other end. And the light wasnt even that bad.

Dhoni clearly gave a hint about Ashwin's ability in the presentation, was pissed with Binny. So Ashwin for Binny is gonna happen in all probability. Dhawan,Vijay,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane,Dhoni,Ashwin,Jadeja,BK,Shami,Ishant will be the XI.I like this one.May be I'd like Pankaj to come in for Shami.

Haven't we learned anything from the Binny experiment ?

I'm talking about his batting (+ bowling). What I have seen of Ashwin in Australia and other games, he's not bits and pieces Test batsman. Also, I don't think he would crush England with his bowling.

Dhoni did not bowl Bhuvi in his early tests as well. Said this on the Binny thread, had we lost, Binny's career would be over. But the win gets him another opportunity. Got a rough one in the 1st innings and had a brain freeze in the 2nd. Created a chance with the ball. Dhoni will keep him in the side.

Commentators (TMS i think) said Umpires asked to bowl spin from both ends due to light

For one thing Dhoni will use Ashwin far more than he used Binny.

perhaps rest for the main pacers and trying to get more overs in. helps that pitch was turning too. but it speaks volumes that Dhoni went with Dhawan and Vijay and didn't even LOOK at Binny. I think Dhoni must have been MAD PISSED with that shot selection by binny, did not even give him/his selector daddy the CHANCE for him to get in the team with 1-2 cheap wickets

Yep. Binny inclusion was pointless. Moreover like he was red carded and sent off the field.

Does anyone honestly think dhoni will change this team??
I think he will. He will bring in Ashwin for Binny. He did not have any confidence in Binny's bowling, but had to give him 2 matches. It is good that Binny did not score in the second innings, otherwise it would have been a much harder decision.

inspite of all this short-ball-strategy greatness that worked out well today, Saha should replace MSD. It wont happen, so only thing one can hope for is MSD plays a ODI type innings like Jadeja did. Hanging out and tuk-tuk doesnt work in Test matches for MSD.

That was in the end. I was talking about when Cook and ballance were batting. Giving easy singles and letting them settle in. At that time, the umpires only checked for light. The umpires told Dhoni to bowl spinners when there were about 4 overs left in the day. Thats when took Shami off
