How can we get 20 wickets they cry. 4 bowlers in last test match and we managed it The key for us is runs. Get big runs on the score board and we win, England crumble. 6 bats is a must. Do not want to see an indian batting team with players like dhoni/jadeja/binny/ashwin at 6, scares hell out of me and is catastrophe waiting to happen. In fact catstrophe did happen but bk bailed us out in both tests at 9, he wont keep doing that. 6 bats is a must

We have also managed to get 300 atleast every time without needing extra batsman.Yes tail won't contribute everytime,but top 5 won't fail everytime either.There's enough quality in Pujara and Kohli to back them without needing extra option. OTOH,We got 20 wickets last time on the back of a freak spell by Ishant.That surely won't happen everytime and with Shami looking rusty too,we need additional bowling option to take 20.We need to play for win,not draw

Runs are crucial of course, and binny is useless. That we agree on! Whats wrong with ashwin at 6? He can handle the new ball. More assured and solid than others like dhoni and binny. And provides a bowling option and a slip option. We have scored 300 many times without kohli or dhawan or pujara making massive scores. So with bhuvi at 8/9, we have a good batting lineup. If you dont want ashwin, have aaron for binny. But rohit is not the answer! We only just got 20 wickets, have you seen the SA and NZ tours and even trent bridge where we didnt get 20 wickets? :hysterical: We need the 5th bowler.

Our seam attack is very very weak compared to our batting line up. There were several phases where Indian bowlers had to toil. No better than the 198 run partnership between Andu and Root.

Yup if you want to go for the kill try to restrict them below 250.. Even the worst batting line up can fancy themselves to score that. We have better than that.

We scored those runs without Kohli. Pujara did play a HUGE role but still we wore them out without our 2 batsman.

we shouldnt forget that jadeja and dhoni as batsmen are mere passengers. we cant expect jadeja to score a blistering half century every two games. he has the talent, but not the temperament. Dhoni is dhoni. with kohli and dhawan not in form, picking rohit is not a bad option at all. I really hope our TVS 50 Bhuvi Kumar, will continue to keep doing the good work. If not for him, we would have been 0-2 by now.

dhoni has issues with 2 spinners but i think he's doing it so that people dont criticise his captaincy i.e. "he thinks he's in india" fact is, you play 4 seamers or 2 spinners and 3 seamers if you want 5 bowlers. it has worked so far. I'm sure ashwin will do a decent job and with england's lefties, good chances of 20 wickets. I will put my money on ashwin over rohit ANY day in batting. Dhoni should do what's right and imo, that's dhoni at 6, ashwin at 7, jaddu at 8 and then 3 seamers. Ideally, i would play 4 seamers.

Last time in 2011 Dhoni played with 7 batters and never won a single game. This time he went against this conventional wisdom and played 6 batters + binny and won. so he should stick to this formula and not play Rohit.Who knows , may be Binny may make another 50 and pick 2-3 wckets if bowled more.
