He is getting so much flak because the Indian test team has performed extraordinarily bad under his captaincy in the last three years and he has not performed with the bat in tests for many years - despite all this, not only is he still part of the team but he's also still the captain. So IMHO all criticism he receives is justified. He just doesnt deserve to be part of the test side now.
