On the basis of his performance in this series alone and how bowlers have targeted him, Kohli should just be dropped. It doesn't matter even if he scores a 100 now. Dropping him would benefit him and the establishment in the long run as it sends a strong message across the players that even somebody like him will be dropped if he doesn't perform. Sorry this is a Indian team and you have to earn your place. Some strong actions are needed. He seriously needs to work on his technique to gain his place. He has scored so many runs in ODI, he will not be dropped from 'TESTS'. Even raina will get another chance in test cricket, as he can hit SIXES in IP, TONTY TONTY AND ODI. Dhoni actually creates gem, his vision is to turn ODI batsman into GREAT TEST BATSMAN.

He was able to play out Steyn's banana swings in SA. Think it is more form than technique. He is playing at balls he should be leaving (he did in SA) because he is circumspect

No, he struggles with the outswing. Besides, if he is not in form, he loses his offstump. Fidel edwards used to get him out in a similar fashion. Even in nz, the bowlers had exploited this weakness. He has been sorted out now. The way he is getting out consistently proves that there is a problem in his technique. One can be out of form, but cannot get out in the same fashion again and again. raina used to get out in the same fashion. though we will see tomorrow, but still, he has a major technical flaw.
