I wouldn't be surprised if he actually does believe that we are progressing. One can only make progress if one realizes his mistakes. That is Dhoni's biggest drawback. He has excuses for everything.

As a lower order batsman , wicket keeper it is very rare him alone is going contribute to a loss as a player. Knowing that for each and every single loss endlessly he can come up with some excuse. If a Railway minister resigns over a train accident he doesnt say "I didn't make the mistake what did i do". It is about taking responsibility. Mahela has done, Sangakkara has done, Tendulkar has done. lot of guys just could not handle the heat and called it quits.

The only 2 positives from the game for me were: 1) Ashwin's batting - he leaves the likes of Dhawan, Gambhir and Rohit in the shade. He should be seriously considered as a top-order batsman going forward 2) Aaron's bowling. Luckily Dhoni felt so too, so he is likely to play at the Oval

Forget about winning overseas for the next 5 years. This team has been demoralized beyond return thanks to Fletcher and Dhoni. There seems to be no sense of shame in the team when they let the country down so badly time and again. After each humiliation we get to hear the same nonsense....
