Again... the same symphony. Dude, the primary reason for our failures abroad has been miserable batting. That ain't something the captain can fix.

Our batting was aactually great previous series, though Dhoni failed every time You can put forward a million excuses. Blame everyone except Dhoni. But the fact is, every player in those 3 years were dropped and changed. Big 3 retired, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj all dropped. Only person untouched was Dhoni And every expert agrees his captaincy has been mindless and pathetic. Why are you ignoring this fact? Hiding behind batting failures? Players are young and batting failure can be fixed. However, why no attempt to fix captaincy

That a change in captaincy is needed is given (in test). No matter how big a defender you are of Dhoni's captaincy (or lack of it) he has made some blunders. Squad is given by selectors but playing XI is on captain and he has picked wrong people for wrong conditions. At a keeper/batman he was one of guys who had a decent tour along with Bhuvan and Vijay. So as a player i dont see any reason to drop him but if we do drop him then that should be the end of Dhoni in test cricket no going back to him. Another thing Dhoni or No Dhoni we are in all likelihood will lose all 4 test in Aus; his removal wont fix our slip catch or opener issues or 10 other things we saw

For that to happen he shouldnt even be in the squad; when in trouble new captain will always look upto him. Yes people will throw names of ojha, saha even samson but if this does happen we should start with kartik

He should not be in test team. It should be a fresh start with new management and captain.

This has now turned into a classic chicken and egg problem. Well, one thing which I now firmly believe is that we would come to know the actual root cause of these drubbings only when Dhoni goes. Till that time, we can only speculate, whether it's his inept captaincy(to go along with his mind baffling decisions) or it is actually the ineptness of the team. We have traditionally been a batting heavy team. Ganguly also led a rookie pace attack on numerous occasions and so did Dravid. But they always had a beastly batting side who would rake up totals. Dhoni got that with these youngsters in NZ/SA but we squandered from winning positions. This series, well I hope is an abberration, otherwise we'll have to start importing batsmen from other countries. All of our future stars have serious falling in their techniques which have been brutally exposed. Bating wise, Dhoni couldn't have done much. Infact we needn't go to far and look at the other camp. Till the time, no one was performoing, everyone was after Cook. Once his bowlers stepped up, and he also started scoring by hook or by crook, things started faling in place. Tactically, we never would know whether Cook has changed or not, coz our batsmen never stayed in that long :cantstop:.

Actually, Anderson and Broad bowled really well after Lords and then wickets to Moeen hurt us the most. Both their main pacers did not have to stretch at all to get wickets because when there were not bowling, it was Moeen who got wickets and they did not have to bowl much.

I think nothing changed as far Cook's captaincy was concenred. It was just that their bowlers bowled very well and our batsmen kept getting bottling up.

I do think Dhoni really wants to resign as captain and quit test cricket, but he wants to continue playing ODI, T20 and IPL. But there are just too many powerful outside forces that will never allow that. They want him to continue as captain and player in all formats, or they'll push him completely out of the international scene.

It might hurt his pride, but I think he'll accept playing under another captain. Even Sourav Ganguly, who was more spoiled than Dhoni, played under another captain. There is too much money at stake for Dhoni's ego to prevail.

It is his duty that he makes players follow the routine, practice regularly and work on their issues with coaching staff. Captain of the ship is what should take care of everything related to his ship.

Yeah. Cook is actually a horrible captain. Probably worse than Dhoni. The moment the pressure piles on him, his decisions go from absurd to crazy. The problem was that whenever we looked like putting Cook under pressure, we would lose a wicket and squander it away.
