Marco Polo Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 It seems that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) bosses have not taken kindly to MS Dhoni's vote of confidence for under-fire coach Duncan Fletcher. The Indian skipper said earlier that Duncan Fletcher would take India to the World Cup in 2015. He also said that an administrative and coaching rejig didn't mean the Zimbabwean's powers were curtailed. Getty Images The Indian skipper said earlier that Duncan Fletcher would take India to the World Cup in 2015. Getty Images "He (Fletcher) will lead us into the World Cup. Also he is still the boss. We have Ravi Shastri who will look into everything, but Fletcher is the boss. It's not as if his powers or his position have been curtailed. I don't know what you feel from the outside, but operations still remain the same. We have a few other support staff coming into the dressing room, but overall the operation remains the same," Dhoni said. Reacting to Dhoni's statement, a top BCCI official was quoted in an Indian Express report as saying: "Dhoni can’t decide who should be coach. BCCI will decide it. At the same time, we also want to add that it is the selection committee that will decide the coach and captain for the World Cup." The 1-3 loss to England in the Test series saw Ravi Shastri being appointed director of cricket for the ODI series and also saw coaches Trevor Penney and Joe Dawes being 'rested' and replaced by Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar. This is seen by many as the BCCI setting base for an overhaul with Fletcher's (whose contract runs till World Cup 2015) future as India coach in jeopardy. In a separate report on 20 August, a BCCI official was quoted by Press Trust of India as saying: "Duncan has no powers left whatsoever. Ravi will be calling the shots and Duncan knows it only too well. At this point of time, with no choice of support staff, Duncan will have to take a back seat. If Duncan wants to leave before the next home series against West Indies, the Board will not stop him." As of now, it seems that Dhoni's statement shows a split between him and the BCCI — with the captain backing a coach the BCCI may not want. Click here to read the full Indian Express report

kosingh Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Huh? If I recall, Fletcher's contrat is till the world cup. So there is nothing really wrong with what Dhoni said. Until BCCI says otherwise, we have to assume the contract is what determines how long Duncan is around.
Roshanrocks Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Whoever made this statement from the bcci is going to be in trouble... Srini uski dhulaai karwayega..

vvvslaxman Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Dhoni has backing from the don himself. Hence he is getting arrogant.
beetle Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If it is true...then good!!! Dhoni has too much power...it has made him arrogant and crazy.

Austin 3:!6 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 At the same time, we also want to add that it is the selection committee that will decide the coach and captain for the World Cup. Are they contemplating of changing the skipper too before world cup? :omg:
vishalvirsingh Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Are they contemplating of changing the skipper too before world cup? :omg: if they change the Skipper and Coach and coaching staff ( that they have done already)... Then Great JOB BCCI

tweaker Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If the contract is upto WC & the team is playing horribly why cant the coach be dropped.
