Worked in WTC-2 until April 2001. Moved to mid-town then and saw the towers go down from the building I worked in. Had to walk 41 floors down by stair, and then walked from midtwon to 27th & 6th where my apartment was.

For desis it was more of shock but "now u know how it feels" reaction. Till that day not a single US govt gave a flying **** about people dying in India. I feel very sad for the families but at the international level policy for the US, it made them see what India goes through.

They changed their views on Kashmir and started to realize what we have been going through for decades. It was a big wake up call for western civilization.
Wake up call? In retrospect, I'd say it is the death knell. Not the 9/11 attacks per se, but the knee jerk reaction by the West. Today, 13 years, many $$$$ and a few thousand American/NATO lives later, the Middle East is no safer. A new terrorist organisation (ISIS), much more radical and barbaric than the Al Qaeda is flourishing. Many citizens from the West (mainly UK and France) have joined the terrorists. For all the 'waking up' the West doesn't have much to show as an achievement in Iraq post the intervention and the subsequent retreat/withdrawal. Overall, the West's dominance, affluence and overall position wrt the rest of the world has relatively reduced in these 13 years. The dominance was declining anyways, the knee jerk reaction to the 9/11 attacks only hastened it.

Well it's not they weren't empathic... they have a pretty turbulent history too. 9/11 wasn't the first terrorist attack in the US; not the first time a foreign force attacked them, not the first time mass murders happened there and not the first time they felt apocalyptical.

MythBusting Deto's age-he is 23 years old so he must have been born in 1991 or time on/after Sep 1990. Which means he must have been 11 or 10....So let us say he was 11 years old during the attack and let us say he started going to L.K.G at 3.....U.K.G at 4- 1st to 6th between the the ages of 5-10 So he must have been in 7 th Std when he was 11 So scenario 1-Either he got a double promotion or skipped one of the K.G's Scenario 2-He is full of himself and already considered he knocked of 7th and considered himself to be in 8th std Scenario 3-The Trauma of 9/11 was too much for him. Scenario 4-Deto is our very own Afridi So Deto is right. Case closed

On 22nd Oct 2013 Deto was 26 years old. On 11 Sept 2014 he became 23 years old :omg: This feat makes you greater than Afridi. Afridi has been the same age for last 15 years but you have managed to reduce your age :hatsoff:
