You have no idea how devastating peer pressure can be and things it can make people do. There are multiple cases of even the most well brought up teenager' date= with a good education and family values caving in to peer pressure and doing horrible deeds.
Anyone who succumbs to peer pressure suffers primarily from a weak will, poor judgment and a lack of desire to do what's right.....if you have friends who think raping a girl is funny, and you still hang out with them, then there is something clearly wrong with you......
So no, if we reward such behavior or even over look it, it can still be devastating. You can preach good behavior all you want but if you do not punish or even over look bad behavior where ever you see it then all your preaching will be for nought
I'm not saying that miscreants shouldn't be punished. Infactly, I partly agree with you. What I'm trying to say is that we need to employ both pro-active (educational and social reform) as well as reactive measures (public humiliation and thrashing etc.).....and not simply the latter to tackle the problem......you need people to be able to empathize with the issue and its sufferers.......once there is an empathy established......then there will be a natural reaction to any wrongdoing......it won't completely alleviate the problem however......men get thrashed in public on a daily basis for misbehaving with women......we still see it happening the next day , yes?
He was clearly bragging about it here.
Ummm.......it was an incident that was partially on topic........he was being inconvenienced by the girl who was busy posing in line......he proceeded to deal with the situation in a very poor way.........he admits to the same (his reply to desi cartman on the first page)......now if you want to file a PIL against him......go ahead......but the last time I checked........people don't show remorse when they are bragging......
This is nothing to do with being PC or airing his thoughts. Most of the harassment women face in India is of the same verbal kind (though we are very high on groping and molestation too). I know women personally, strong ones who have told me there were periods of their life when they almost stopped coming out of their houses because of such verbal taunts. And their genuine concerns were downplayed each and every time even by ones closest to them.
That is very sad.....
BTW, you have put the onus of good behavior on everyone else, TV, movies and what not, everyone else but you and I. You and I are part of the same society. It is our civic duty to call out youngsters when they misbehave. If guys were afraid of the public, such things would reduce a lot
Who on this thread has encouraged his behaviour? Except for Aaku who was clearly being sarcastic, people have told him to be careful with what he says. Did you even bother to read the entire thing he wrote?
By the way I shouldn't have said these words to u aaku in the ice cream parlour , but can't help it as u were too busy clicking urself, even when I requested u too step aside as there was plenty of space, but u just won't listen, u were continously asking ur bhabhi main kaisi lag rahi hu, ab koi chuhiya jaisa moonh bana ke kaisa lagega.
The bolded is the part where he keeps bringing himself down on this thread......but it is quite clear that the he was inconvenienced by her actions and she didn't listen to him when he asked nicely (assuming that we take what he says at face value)....... His issue was clearly with her posing in an inappropriate place......not the fact that she was a woman..... Also, you say that it is our duty first and foremost.......tell me something........were you born with a ready made sense of morality? If you were.......then you are a rare case...... But most people aren't.......their psyche is completely affected by the influences around them.......what are these influences? Society, educational bodies, politics, family, religion, friends, internet, and personal experiences......with some being mutually inclusive....... Now each person reacts quite differently to each influence.....you embrace some things .....you reject some.....but to discard the role such influences has to play is very naive....... It does ultimately depend on the individual......but a person is largely shaped by his surroundings........he may not be a reflection of his surroundings......but his psyche is definitely affected by it.......
I have worked with abused and molested women and some of the stories they tell, the lack of self-confidence, their wanting to kill themselves each day, their being afraid to step out of their houses, will bring tears in your eyes. And contrary to popular belief, the abuse need not be physical for it to be traumatizing or life changing.
Yes I understand your point........but vayu's case was not a hate crime.......he said something stupid in the heat of the moment because he was being put at an inconvenience....now that doesn't justify it........but you don't have to escalate an issue into something it isn't......

The very least one can do is.. stand up if there is something wrong is happening rather than.. "mujhe kya and mera kya" mentality. Be pro-active on women's issues and not go with the flow. Merely blaming on previous generation won't do any good. I am culprit of wrong-doings too.. but it is about time we, men, stand up for women's issue otherwise next generation will take OP's crude remark as a norm in the society. Gotta get over with 'its not my job/concern' mentality.
Ok......fair enough........we are on the same page....... So you think vayu's incident is a case of sexual harassment?

I'll have to be there to know it to be 100% sure .. but, the way he is describing.. Yes it was. Those "C" words are not to be said in public and not when you are surrounded by your family.

Without hearing his side of the story?

http://improvephotography.com/19446/how-to-pose-for-a-selfie/ Most of the selfi pictures advice have this advice Tip #10: Extend your Neck Forward To completely remove any double chin in your photo, and to accentuate your jaw line, extend your neck forward. This may feel funny, but it will dramatically improve how you look in the photo. Also, shoot from above. Raise the camera slightly above you and then look up to even further accentuate the jaw.

One more way to annoy people around you, selfie stick :giggle: selfie-pole.jpg This will provide some distance, taking out the need for duck faces or any other facial contortions

No matter what technique we use cameras won't give the exact picture as the way it processes is very different way our eye processes. That is why some are called photogenic. Some are poor in pictures but look good real. In my case bad both on camera and for real :cantstop:

Everyone else might be laughing at your comments but if anyone has to see the state of women in India and the respect they get, this is the proof of that. Most people might think this is not a big deal, however here was a girl simply minding her own stuff and here we have a guy, not only commenting on how her body should be but usually really demeaning words in front of her own family and getting away with it completely and coming and bragging on a social site. There is absolutely no hope for this country if this is the example of the current generation And the worst thing is, many of the guy quoting him, instead of calling him out on this are actually hoping he is careful next time. Hey guys stick together right, unless it comes to love jihad when everyone should try to protect the girl from herself. Every day on this site people write post after post on condition of women in India, the mindset of men, the horrible reality as if it is a third person thing. But when something like this actually happens, we see the true colors. If you are unable to condemn a poster you hardly know on the internet and are taking his side, how on earth will you control your own brother or kid?
Post of the day. Very well said.

Mtc had she been minding her own business I wouldn't have been bothered about it but the thing is she was there occupying a lot of space and going here and there and causing lot of discomfort to others as well, she was so engrossed in herself that she didn't care if her act is causing discomfort to other's, I know I shouldn't have said that, but I don't pretend things, why is that a lot of guys believe a girl is always right and boy is always wrong , and yes I am tharki, but who isn't, atleast i keep things pretty straightforward, the thing is don't assume if u don't know the full story, and to tell you the truth I have seen a lot of colours of women that I hope you don't see in life, I know u might be thinking that I might be making a lot of stories trying to gain sympathies, but that's not it, I come here in chit chat because there are some things which I can't share it with any body and since you guys are unknown I share it with you guys.

Vayuu ki hawa udi padi hai, but would the supposedly spontaneous comments come out if he was standing next to his mother? Spontaneity would say yes.
Yaar isme hawa udne ki kya baat hai , tum waha thay nhi, tumhe pata nhi waha kya hua, meri family ka koi member waisi harkat nhi karta jaisi usne ki ,aur jab main ye incident narrate kr rha tha, tabhi maine kha ki I shouldn't have said that and I felt bad about it, but kuch members icf pe aise jata tey hai ki unhone ladkiyo ki izzat ka theka le rakha hai, jab ki saale khud hi tharki logo ke adde pe fudakte rehte hai, itni hi feelings hai to kyu post krte ho pics, there is nothing like i bragged about this incidence, whenever I have mentioned this incident I have said I shouldn't have said this, but heat of a moment nikal gya munh se, but kuch logo ke yaha khada baal hai na, ek baat ke chanichaaro ki tarah peeche hi pad jaate hai.

And one more thing main jo hun munh pe ho, kisi ki peeth peeche nhi, jo jaisa hai usse waise kehne se main nhi darta, ye jo kaha galat tha nhi kehna chahiye tha, I deeply regret it , but jo kaha wo wapas nhi ho sakta and beside that uss ladki ne bhi kuch nhi kaha, na uski bhabhi ne , so point is ki til ko taad banane so koi fayda nhi.
