Even a non influential person like Aditya Verma got Srini suspended from ICC for 6 months or so. No contest at all against Pawar. Sheep in front of hungry lion.

Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA): Probably the most high-profile state association in the country. It is chaired by BJP president Amit Shah, who took over as GCA president from Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few months ago. Baroda Cricket Association (BCA): Samarjitsinh Gaekwad might not be directly related to BJP but the royal family has a close friendship with prime minister Modi. A follower of RSS, Samarjitsinh’s mother, Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad, the Rajmata of Baroda, was one of those who proposed Modi’s candidature when he contested for the Vadodara seat in the Lok Sabha. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA): It’s chaired by Anurag Thakur, youth-wing president of BJP and a member of parliament from Hamirpur. Thakur is also joint-secretary in the BCCI. Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA): Though Arun Jaitley was replaced as DDCA president by Sneh Bansal, it is believed that he still plays an active role in both the DDCA as well as the BCCI. Jaitley, a veteran BJP leader, is the country’s finance minister and is involved in all major decisions of the ruling party and the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) RCA has been mired by a conflict between two rebel groups led by Lalit Modi and BJP leader Amin Pathan. Though the matter is now in court, the association has generally been a bastion of the BJP. Pathan is said to enjoy a majority of support within the RCA as well as the backing of state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA): JCA president Amitabh Chaudhary joined the BJP in Ranchi on Tuesday. Chaudhary had lost in the Lok Sabha election where he contested as part of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party. Andhra Cricket Association (ACA): The ACA secretary Gokaraju Ganga Raju is member of parliament from the BJP and he is also the serving All India vice-president of the VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad). He was also the ‘Hindu Chaitanya Sibiram Swagat Samiti Adyaksha’ organized by RSS in East Andhra Pradesh. Goa Cricket Association: Authority of Goa (SAG), which comes under the government, and is designated as a State Sports Association. Goa Cricket Association is a member of the General Body of SAG and also of its governing council. Though the GCA was split into two factions and the issue is lodged in court, the state’s Chief Minister is Manohar Parrikar of the BJP.

Another problem for Srini is that he is seen as bit of a DMK man. With AIADMK in the state I would not be surprised if amma asks Modi to pull the plug on Srini. It should be noted that TNCA's problems with Chepuk and the building of the stands (or the legality of them) started when the AIADMK came to power. In that sense Srini is on a weak footing in his own state.

It was under the tenure of his friend and pawn Shashank Manohar. However, Pune district has always been the historical home of Maharashtra cricket association. He is 74 years old and his health is failing him. He fails to unseat Srini now and its safe to say its probably the last we have seen of Pawar as a major force in Indian cricket. He held incredibly few rallies in the assembly elections recently. The reason was his health. Within Mumbai cricket he won on a technicality as Gopinath Munde and Uddhav Thakarey had him cornered. But Munde did not have a mumbai registered address. Its only a matter of time the Sena replaces him from within Mumbai. Nearly 50% of the associates and affiliates are in Sena hands. The unions which work for the MCA are in Sena hands. Next round the sena will put forward Dilip Vengsarkar. Pawar knows he cannot get the numbers. Bring BCCI president remains an option. The other option is going back to Maharashtra cricket association. But that does not hold the same clout. Pawar will also not directly support the BJP on many issues (communal violence bill comes to mind) but his 12 members of parliament will abstain.

And on who i want among the two The truth is Sharad Pawar has done a lot of good for Mumbai cricket. He has heavily developed the BKC ground and the renovation of Wankhede was under his tenure. He has also supported the DY patil stadium. So Sharad Pawar has delivered for Mumbai in terms of infra. The truth is if the sena do get their man in they will sit on their asses and do nothing. You have to keep in mind that major expansions in BCCI cricket happened under the watch of Pawar. Be it the IPL or even Champions league t20. The revenues of the BCCI have increased as a result. However, the irrigation scam which his party has carried out in marathwada and viderbha has led to the deaths of close to 4000-5000 farmers in the state via suicide. Fields which should have been irrigated never were. Droughts ate up crops. We all sit in our comfy homes and watch the cricket. At the end of the day the BCCI remains entertainment. From a purely cricket POV Pawar is a better person. But i personally want him to rot in hell. For the death of those farmers he is directly responsible. Those farmers families dont care about cricket. They have lost their bread winner. For that reason gimme Srini anyday. I hope Pawar dies a miserable death. Cricket remains the least of our worries as a social ill.

With Sharad Pawar, you never know if he starts supporting Srini. I can't actually predict wh0 Sharad Pawar who would support or is actually thinking irrespective of what we read/hear from media. Anything is possible as far as one of India's most experienced politician is concerned.

Thats how most professions work no? I work hard for my company because I feel that I might be promoted which leads me to earn more money. Its one of the basis of capitalism. The bottomline is that Mumbai metropolitan region has 3 good international standard stadiums. 1 more in Thane (Dadoji Kondev) is being heavily renovated. Under his watch Pune has a brand spanking new stadium. So thats a total of 4/5 stadiums with academies he has aided in building. Those are just the visible things. The days of Pawar doing out and out corruption are over. He has evolved from that. Take Navi Mumbai airport. He bought acres and acres of land around Navi Mumbai airport in the early 00s. He is hell bent on pushing that project through. Once an airport comes up the value of his land with automatically triple. Ditto Pune metro. Some of the comments on this thread are naive to say the least. Pawar is not dumb to dip his hand into the money the BCCI generates directly. The mantra of Pawar has always been simple. Increase the size of the pie through development and take a fixed % cut. Corruption and development are not mutually exclusive things. To be honest I was not anti Pawar. The this irrigation scam has led to so many death of the poorest strata of society that I am dead against NCP and Pawar ever since. I actually did not mind his real estate scams in Mumbai via Db realty. He stole from the rich there.

CAB keeps Srini waiting, to support only after Jaitley nod

New Delhi: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to keep their cards close to their chest as its supremo Jagmohan Dalmiya "refused to commit his support" for president-in-exile N Srinivasan and has told him that he will do so only after receiving the nod from Arun Jaitley. Srinivasan met Dalmiya during the MAK Pataudi Memorial Lecture in Kolkata recently and sought his support as he would be nominated from the East Zone. However to Srinivasan's surprise, Dalmiya was non-committal. "Since Dalmiya controls two votes (CAB and National Cricket Club (NCC)), Srinivasan asked him to officially sign and support his candidature. But Dalmiya said that he needs to speak to Arun Jaitley before giving him the nod. Srinivasan was slightly taken aback," a senior CAB office-bearer, who was privy to conversation told PTI on condition of anonymity. He then explained Dalmiya's stance about remaining non-committal. "Look, if there is an election once the legal impasse is over, 2 votes out of 31 can be crucial. That's one aspect. The second aspect is at this point of time, Dalmiya trusts and respects BJP heavyweight and Union Finance Minister Jaitley's views. "All the institutional voters will obey his (Jaitley's) instructions. So Dalmiya wants Jaitley to tell him in as many words that he needs to support Srinivasan. Then only will he commit," the official, who is also a part of one of the BCCI sub-committees said. "Dalmiya told Srinivasan in no uncertain terms that it was on Jaitley's recommendation that he became the interim president for a short period last year after IPL scandal broke out. He shares a very cordial relation with Jaitley and trusts his judgement", the official said. There are unconfirmed reports that former BCCI president Sharad Pawar might throw his hat in the ring but no official word has come out directly from the veteran Maharashtra politician. The anti-Srinivasan group people, who are currently in the open are Vidarbha's Shashank Manohar, Saurashtra's Niranjan Shah, Mumbai Cricket Association, Maharashtra Cricket Association's Ajay Shirke to name a few. Although IS Bindra has retired from sports administration, Punjab Cricket Association is also not close to the ruling group.

looks like Arun Jaitley will be kingmaker.... of the 31 Pawar has about 10 votes IMO in the bank and Srini has about 8. Looks like more than Amit Shah it will be a case of Arun Jaitley deciding which way the 2 votes of Dalmiya and rest of the BJP pack vote. close to 10 votes there..... It will be interesting if Jaitley decides to have a BJP man in cricket at the top. In which case he might want to do alone? I mean he does have about 10 votes under his command if he chooses. Or he can even push forward Dalmiya. How fecked up will it be if Dalmiya becomes a consensus candidate with 2 votes under his belt on his own. Have to say compared to Srini and Pawar Dalmiya does appear to be the better candidate.

Srinivasan clean chit may mean trouble for Mumbai Cricket Association

Three powerful associations of the BCCI who conduct Tests regularly - Mumbai, Vidarbha and Punjab - are likely to face the heat from the ruling group of the Board in the wake of the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Mudgal Committee giving a clean chit to N Srinivasan in the IPL 6 corruption probe. "There were talks at the Board's Working Committee that Mumbai Cricket Association, PCA and VCA should be fined to get back the legal expenses incurred by the Board in fighting the case, now that Srinivasan has been given a clean chit," said a source, who attended the BCCI WC meet in Chennai yesterday. Asked why these associations have been singled out, the source said that it has been found out by the others that some top administrators - current and former - connected to these three associations were supporting the cause of the case fought against Srinivasan by Aditya Verma, representing the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar. Incidentally, MCA is headed by Sharad Pawar who is a known opponent of BCCI's president-in-exile N Srinivasan and the other two associations were, in the immediate past, headed by Shashank Manohar and IS Bindra - two other men who were and are against Srinivasan continuing in his post in the wake of the corruption scandal. There are apprehensions in MCA circles that such a powerful body, a permanent Test centre, could not only be fined but also be sidelined as far allotment of international cricket matches are concerned. MCA last played host to Sachin Tendulkar's farewell 200th Test against the West Indies last November and in IPL 7 season had the mortification of seeing the final shifted to Bengaluru as BCCI was not convinced the association could solve some issues like accreditations, car parking for VIPs - among other things. One of MCA's matches was also allotted to Cricket Club of India's Brabourne Stadium, a stone's throw away from the former's Wankhede Stadium and there are apprehensions that BCCI might allot matches directly to CCI in future. The convention, till recently, has been that all BCCI-organised games allotted to be held in Mumbai are routed through MCA. Reacting to the development, MCA vice-president Ravi Savant clarified that the association had no connection whatsoever with Verma. "I would state that MCA has no connection of any nature with Mr Verma," said Savant who headed MCA for a while after the death of incumbent chief Vilasrao Deshmukh before Pawar took over the reins by winning the last elections.
