rkt.india Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Our batting has collapsed in non familiar conditions. So they would select at least one bowler who can be relied more for runs and compared to other bowlers, and that gives Ashwin a huge advantage in making the playing 11. In Australia it is better to take just one specialist spinner imo in playing 11. Rest all bowlers in bowling attack should be pacers, especially in 7+4 combo. I do not see them playing 5 bowlers in Aus if they do not pick Binny as seaming alrounder. Dhoni wont play 4 specialist seamers and playing 2 spinners will be useless.
BeautifulGame Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 So is the squad announcement today or 10th

Dhoni wont play 4 specialist seamers and playing 2 spinners will be useless. I have similar view that it is wise not to play 2 spinners as the wicket will not favor spinners as much as they favor pacers. Exception could be Sydney where 2 spinners might make the playing 11. My guess is 7+4 in most matches. Ashwin + 3 pacers Ishant is the first bowler to get in due to him being our best pacer in last few test series. Remaining two will be amongst Bhuvi,Shami, Umesh and Varun. If they further factor in form then they will consider Bhuvi's runs and wickets in England test series. So he too looks to be certain imo. My speculation is a toss up between Shami, Umesh and Varun for the remaining spot.
JaFanatic Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Have not seen Ram Dayal. Mishra is average. Thanx bro
JaFanatic Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 So is the squad announcement today or 10th Our selectors once announced the squad around 11.45 p.m so wait till 11.59.59.99 p.m

Even last time in 2012, it was a green top.
Straight Drive Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Sydney dont support spinners these days. It has been a green track since 2009 Pak series. Even last time in 2012' date=' it was a green top.[/quote'] Having looked at the last team we fielded at Sydney (2012) http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/518951.html your point that the wicket was green is valid. We played only one specialist spinner - Ashwin. So it seems 3 pacers + 1 specialist spinner is the most likely combo we will see throughout the test series.
Lord Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 bhuvi will be useless in australia' date=' just cannon fodder for warner IMO[/quote'] People said the same before England series
bowl_out Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 We have to play 5 bowlers to win a test. Simple as that... Ashwin + 4 pacers is the way to go
zubinpepsi Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Ashwin has become so useless these days..he is going to be a waste of space in OZ.... hope he is not selected
bowl_out Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 He is a supposedly improved bowler after being dropped in SA and first part of England tour... For me, he fits the fifth bowler / sixth batsman role pretty well
Lord Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Ashwin has become so useless these days..he is going to be a waste of space in OZ.... hope he is not selected hes going to be selected for his batting:giggle:
Straight Drive Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 The selectors were also scheduled to pick the squads for the fourth and fifth ODIs against Sri Lanka, and the Test series in Australia, but that selection was "postponed", the BCCI said in a release. HIC_NAA Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 What happened. Are selectors waiting for Srini to go so that they can dump MSD as test captain
HIC_NAA Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 BTW any one knows when India will be reaching Australia and also how many warm ups are planned this time.
