Here is one of the incidents that happened to me After college,I got a job offer from a leading Bank in India....Apart from the usual background checks, etc one of the pre requisites was a thorough medical check up probably the most thorough check up I have ever had in my life... So obviously a part of this check up was also the ELISA test-for those of you who don't know,it is for HIV. Anyways I walk into that room, they take my blood and I am all done....so I walk out and wait outside for my next test which is in the same block....after a few minutes one of my future colleague who I had met earlier in the day,who was also going through all the tests comes to me and says the nurse from the elisa test room is looking for you. My world came crashing down....how can I have HIV :fear: :(( ,I was still a virgin, never had blood transplant....was it the rusty gate that struck me while playing as a kid???did some guy stab me with a needle in a dark movie theatre? At the same time,I was planning suicide, how do I do it?Should I swallow pills?jump from a building?Hang myself? So I walk in to the room and the nurse tells me,You forgot your forms here earlier and hands them over to me. Scariest 5 minutes of my life
Suicide really ? :cantstop:

Mine was a while ago when I was hanging around guys who egged a bus. So they threw the eggs and immediately a car pulls up on front of us and takes pictures with an iPad and we get out of there super fast. My heart was racing quite a bit then. We then proceeded towards the skate-park and up a gravel track which leg to a tree enclosed picnic area. We waited there for a bit. We then saw the same car park up at some shops a 100m away or so. We didn't know what to do so we just waited there. Next thing you know a police car pulls up next to the car and starts talking to the man. They then point in our direction. We sprint along the river bank and come to a giant cricket field. we run the field holding our scooters and stuff up off the mud. We cross a bridge and head to an old college. Its abandoned ( got burnt down). We run up the hills into a dense forest area. We usually go up there so we know our way around. We hide in a flat spot surrounded by bush and wait. We end up going our own ways and going home. I was so full of adrenaline that day. I never want to get involved with that stuff again. :)

Dang. That's and incredible experience. Not being very adventurous, I don't have anything of this nature. Mine is road-related. One night, I was driving my 1984 Honda Accord on a curvy, dark, rural road at ~ 45 mph. Just got to a 90 deg bend when an opossum shot across. Instinctively, I swerved to the other side of the road and ... was staring at an oncoming SUV. Swerved right back and missed by inches. All 3 of us (SUV driver, opossum and me) were alive and kept on going our own ways without stopping.

Deto, Thanks for sharing. That must have been really scary. Whereabouts in India did this happen? You have to be really brave to continue clicking pics in a situation like that. I would have fled like its nobody's business.

Very exiting detonator. My most scary experience was when i was admitted to a hospital with severe jaundice. :cantstop:
Why is this scary/risky? Was it a government hospital?

Tiger charging at me in the jungle @ Tadoba. My balls dropped. I had no idea what to do. Froze.
Please tell us more. I must be the unluckiest person around. I've been to 3 tiger reserves: Ranthambore, Bandavgarh and Tadoba. And I've never spotted a tiger.

The following is my heart in mouth moment. I wasn't in any physical danger whatsoever, but till date it ranks as one of the most scariest situations that I experienced. My sister got married the traditional, arranged marriage way. And she had rejected so many, that my mom finally weaved a huge sigh of relief when she finally indicated that she liked ( "don't mind him, he's not so bad" were the exact words she used.) this guy. So they met a few times and finally decided that they were made for each other. So the families took it ahead from there and we were to have this get-together to finalize things. That is when we met the maternal uncle of the guy. He is one of those short creepy characters who always would shake your hand/ hug you 5 seconds longer or stare and smile at you like a lunatic. And then on the pretext of getting some marriage/engagement related work done, he would took my number and started texting me stupid shayaris and jokes. Nothing vulgar, mind you, just outright stupid stuff. Really lame stuff, the kind that would make only Siddhu laugh. I made a passing mention of this to my dad once, and I thought we both forgot about it. On the day of the engagement, this guy was dressed in all white. Probably an Abbas Mustan fan, and was standing right at the foyer of the hall where the cars had to enter. As our car pulled in, my dad did the most unexpected thing as he got off the car: he pretended that the creepy uncle was a valet and handed him the keys. Till date I don't know if my dad made a genuine mistake or that was intentional. Knowing my dad, it is most probably the latter. Me and my mom were both :nervous::nervous: what has he done. It took my super shy sister aeons to pick a guy, and now dad for his 10 seconds of laugh puts it all at risk. Initially the uncle was shocked and made a very distorted face. It seemed as if he'd just explode form the tension. I was frantically praying that this wouldn't be blown out of proportion. Thankfully, the uncle took no umbrage. he laughed it off and hugged my dad for a ridiculously long time and disappeared inside. Definitely, heart in mouth. :((

I usually don't fall sick and if i do i have some doctors in the family prescribe me some pills. One evening i suddenly found myself weak with high fever, bouts of vomiting and shivering. I was driven to a hospital, had my blood taken, and put on drips. I didn't walk myself into a hospital. They didn't know what it was for one night or so and it was my first time in a hospital. I was feeling so weak and people around me worried, that's what made it scary. Maybe this isn't the right life story for this thread, but after they put me on drips and put me on a bed, I remember thinking there was a percentage of chance i might die. :haha:

Hmmmm.. my heart pumping experience was when i was 12-13 year old and me and 2 other guys tried to steal soda bottles in Mumbai. You know how we have soda trucks stand front of a restaurant to load and unload their crates of bottles. Well those are open trucks.. we used to pass these trucks in our tuition class days.. and we all had school bags.. so one day we decided to steal two three one litter bottles just for some fun. So us three friends had a plan to walk pass that truck slowly in one line at the edge of the truck.. the middle guy would have his school bag with zip open... and the third guy would grab a bottle and simply put it in his open bag.. I was the middle guy who kept his bag open and one friend walked ahead of me and another following me to grab the bottle and dropping it. We tried to follow the plan.. But once bottle was dropped in my bag.. the first guy started running and i followed him and ran also.. my bag was open so when i started running, it fell off on road and bursted.. we started running even faster and stopped after running for a minute or two.. roads were packed so it is not easy to notice who did what.. we never passed through that restaurant for a month after that. That was my heart pumping experience from crazy school days..

During my school days used to fly kites. Was very good at it. Our house was adjacent to the railway tracks and all kite shops were across the tracks on other side. There were 2 ways to go the longer route by taking the bridge or the short cut, walk across the tracks. Well why waste time taking the longer and safer route -- right ? Well one day I crossed across, bought my kite and as usual was engrossed admiring my new kite, you make sure it does not tear off my sticking it into your chest. Walk on the tracks. There were 2 tracks, North Bound and South Bound. There was a Long Goods Train passing by on the South Bound track. So I stand right in the middle of the North Bound tracks, waiting for this goods train to pass by so I can get going. I then hear a Coal Engine "cooing" or the whistle of it, or the honking of it. My 1st reaction -- "Ahh, nothing, will wait for the train to pass by". Just 2 secs later -- and I still have no idea why this thought crossed my mind -- " Wait a minute, the goods train has a diesel engine, where is this coal engine whistle sounding from? " I look to my right -- and a massive black coal engine is like less than 100 feet away, rumbling on to me. Driver trying to get my attention for me to move away. I jumped away from the tracks in a heart beat. And man, was it close or what !! I still think if both the trains had the same engine, I was a goner.

It's near Sholayar, in TN. Check out google images. It's not exactly bravery sis, we quicky realized that we are at the elephant clan's mercy. I had the camera in my hands, so I just clicked continuously without even looking at the display . :giggle:

Hospital fear is pretty common. From what I have seen, the OT examination light is the most feared by patients. They talk normal and act normal, the moment the OT light is turned on the heart rate spikes up :winky:

Driving at around 110 mph in my first car (99 Nissan Altima) with buddies on I-95 after a few rounds of vodka... The engine head-gasket blew, I had very limited steering and a set of dodgy brakes.. i really thought i was going to kill us all...I still dont know to this day how i was able to steer the car into my apartment complex.. I used to be a pretty reckless driver - and i know this sounds cliche - but that incident really changed my habits..It's one thing to be dumb and put your own life in danger, but its an entirely different level of stupidity to put your friends and families' life in danger too.. I still want to barrel down the interstate at 120 mph if no one is around, but I am able to control my urges much better these days..

A couple... Seeing a whole gang of thugs running down a hill towards us after we had a run in with one of them in a park. Getting accosted on the Subway platform at 3 am by some hoods...and ended up having a long and philosophical conversation about the womenz :two_thumbs_up:

Remids me of my chutiagiris I was 19 or maybe only 18 and was driving super drunk in Delhi, on a flyover bridge due to the angle I didnt see a truck with the rods sticking out. Luckily I was able to stop in time but when I saw that the bonnet of the car (Maruti 800 or Zen) was under the rods and the rods were probably less than an inch away from the windshield. I dont know how I stopped but if I had been late by a fracgttion of a second, I would have died without seeing MSD lose all the overseas tests. From that day, I simply do not drink and drive. If I get too talli, I either call a cab or just stay at friends place.. well now my wife drives me home :hatsoff:

Once I drove drunk and a fellow (drunk, obviously) dared me to drive on the opposite side. I drove for about 1/4 mile (it was 2 AM). Now, I think about it..a lot could have happened - dead, killed somebody, caught by cops, arrested and put in jail, license suspended...Lucky none of this happened. I am so ashamed of it still.
