Lord Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 That was just an example. You still have 2 bowlers who can be bowled in longer spells in BK and Ishant' date=' you rotate the other two in short spells bowling alongside them. Yes, we can play a spinner dont think they are going to go that route playing 5 bowlers. They will play 4 bowlers that is why they all 4 must be pacers who are going to take wickets for you.[/quote'] yeah if we play 4 bowlers,it should be 4 pacers agree with that
vishalvirsingh Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Doesnt work like that everytime.Sometimes you have to bowl more than 100 overs if it is a fast track and if and only if india play 4 pacers - i strongly beleive we will get them out in 80 overs. three 140k bowlers and a genuine Swing Bowler who took buckets of wickets in England are a GOOD ATTACk. if it is a flat track then we do not need to worry much as our batsman will also bat well and match will end in a draw. end of the day i wanna say our Pacers are equally GOOD if australians will get us in 80 overs we will also get them out in 80 overs ...if the track is FLAT ...then we would take 100 + overs and may be australians may also take 90 overs.
vishalvirsingh Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Test Cricket is also some times a bit like Chess... home team knows exactly how the track will behave due to certain reasons and they get the best team suited for those conditions in the eleven and normally have the right strategy and even the right field placings... See Dhoni - a Spinning Track - he gets 2 pacers and 2 Spinners and he sorrounds the batsman with fielders and Spins the oppostion OUT... now other teams are looking to play 2 spinners in INDIA or one genuine Spinner and a part time Spinner ...i strongly beleive that if they copy india's strategy they can beat INDIA in INDIA too... similarly if we simply COPY Australia's field settings and Australia's Pace attack .. strategy we can also beat them... if australia plays one Spinner then there could be some point playing a Spinner though they have a few pace all rounders too.. even standing behind the distance the keeper and Slip catchers take etc.. should be what the Home team does .. i mean what ever Home team does is kinda Correct for their conditions. i strongly beleive that as normally Home teams are totally correct and play their Best in Home conditions.. even a Zimbabwe and bangladesh end up giving tough fights to other teams - understand the Home advantage. i wanna Our coach to copy the Australian way.

Copying Home teams strategy never works. Whenever touring teams have come to India and have played 2 spinners they have always struggled. Aus and SA both won series in India with there pacers. It was only England who could beat us with spinners but they were 2 very good spinners on the other hand for first time India had poor spinners then opposition. Same way our pacers are promising but are nowhere near Aussie pacers and hence we shouldnt just try to follow there methods. Best for India would be to bat first and score over 350 every test and then i can surely say that we will win a test
vishalvirsingh Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Why do icf experts pull each other down everytime. England played 2 spinners and defeated us..They copied our strategy. Thank you for reminding me n giving the right example to support my point.
brendan07 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 You can only 'copy' another team if you have similar bowlers. Go point me to India's Mitch Johnson bowler, or a Harris clone... Pick your best side, if that is 2 spinners/2 quicks or 3 quicks/1 spinner so be it. End of the day the batting will determine the series.

Thank you for reminding me n giving the right example to support my point. Its not abt putting each other down, it just counter replying to you. Teams have come to India for so many years, how many have won. Windies won in India with there pacers never had any spinners. Just Eng won with spinners and that too a one off. We need to understand that yes we need to play pacers and that too both Umesh and Varun but we shouldnt follow what aussies would do as surely they are better players of horizontal shots then our players.

Thing is our pacers better bet than spinners in these conditions. We dont have any world class spinner so it is useless to play any. Neither we have pacers who can take 8-fers, 10-fers to win us matches. We need contribution from everyone in terms of wickets. There is no hope our spinners will do that untill conditions are really favouring them.
vishalvirsingh Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 This series is going to be hard fought.. KohlI as a captain is doing very well now If Dhoni does not come soon n KohlI captains the whole Series then it could be all the more better.
tweaker Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 I doubt the death of Phil Hughes from a bouncer will have any effect on this series
tweaker Posted November 28, 2014 Author Posted November 28, 2014 The 2 day practice match has been abandoned.India goes in a 1st test with very little preparation.
bowl_out Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 There is doubt whether the first test will even happen... Let's hope they put the Hughes incident behind them and move on with the game.
SLICKR392 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 ^ Put it behind them and move on? I don't even see Johnson bowling short balls in the coming test. They are all completely distraught.

Cricket_Hacker Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Southee and Boult did not bowled a single bouncer today. Pakis bowling quite a few bouncers
-Robin- Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Pakis bowling quite a few bouncers yeah they are bowling normally
CoverDrive Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 looking at how Baz is playing I feel some of the Aussies will come in with an all out attitude. I can totally see Warner going hell for leather. he is not going to hold back.
Forever Indian Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 They should make the first test as a Phil Hughes memorial match and CA should give all the proceeds from it to Phil Hughes family or make a trust in his name and deposit in it. I think that's the best way to pay respect to him. Abandoning a match could have repercussions to many families which are dependant on income from cricket matches taking place. I am sure Phil Hughes would not want that. Instead if that match helps someone in need, that would be he right way to go. As they say Life must Go On......
brendan07 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 As long as the funeral/state service is done by Tuesday I expect the game to be played. Whether the 4 that were really affected play is another thing though.
