Speeds are only shown on tv since 1999 and even in 99 after a shoulder surgery Srinath was the second fastest at 149 behind Shoaib Akhtar. Srinath was the quickest around 95-97. After that, he had a rotator cuff surgery. His bowling on 1996 England, videos are there and it is the quickest I have seen from any Indian pacer, easily looks 150kph, looks as quick or quicker than Mitch in Ashes.

i am confident that if Varun is backed up well , played at waca Perth - he would surely bowl faster than 157K. varun bowling 153.5 on a flat indian track aganst Lanka was a PLeasant Shock to me as i did not expect him to cross 149k. what i was very happy about was that he did not look like putting up 100 % efforts- But i was Wrong , varun was putting possibly 100 % efforts or even more than 100 % and thats why suddenly his pace got a sudden shoot from 145k to 152.5 and 153.5k ... i saw that 4 than Dilshan got of varun - dilshan never hit the ball, the ball just came and touched the bat and flew over second slips............ i repeat- NO batsman on earth today has the Skills to bat out a 5 over Spell of a 150K bowler..if proper slips are put with attacking fielding ... its for sure that the batsmen wud get Out. i have very high.. i repeat Ver very Hugh Hope from Varun Aroon after seeing his bowling in the first ODI. Touch wood- I pray he remains Fit. if he is Fit - I am sure he will play in the eleven ... Yadav also coming into form indicates that ishant could be left out. i wud wanna go for a ALL 4 Pace Attack.. i am sure Australia will ensure that the tracks are dead against the Spinners and if we play 3 pacers and australia play 4 pacers..we are bound to loose then.

The fastest I have seen / read regarding international matches -- Srinath 156.0 k Ishant 152.9 k Aaron. 152.5 k Umesh 152.5 k Nehra. 149.9 k Shami 149.2 k Sreesanth. 149 k RP Singh 148 k Zaheer. 147 k Agarkar 146 k Munaf 145 k. VRV. 145 k Ankola was quite quick too at the beginning of his career but there were no speed guns then. What is interesting is that 4 of the top 6 pacers in the list are playing now.

Interesting to see so many quick bowlers coming in very recent past ...what's changed ? Are we just picking quicker bowlers early or is there some coaching difference ?
