Happy Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 In the run up of Indian general election we had many incidents that raised genuine apprehensions in the minds of people but perhaps our restlessness with the existing political dynasty were so high that we kept brushing aside these manicure sparks that had caliber to burn up and torn apart our integrated secular fabric that is our actual strength...But now the dreaded apprehensions are trying to shape up in realities and it is time to call an spade an spade... No economic development can bridge up the differences between two communities, none can wipe out the social mistrust that are instigated by these political goons... The current debate about celebrating Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh' s birth anniversary in Aligarh Muslim University is not just another incident but it is a waking up call for all those who has the dreams of not just a developed but an integrated India... BJP is sowing the seeds of vicious communal divide and wants to harvest the political gains... It is not just about celebrating someone's birthday who had very good intentions about the institution and donated wealth or land to the University but it is about interfering in institution's autonomy by misusing the power and influence...Even if AMU holds Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh in high esteem, they must not succumb to BJP's blackmail.... Why doesn't BJP go and ask BHU(Banaras Hindu University) to celebrate the birthdays of all the donors not just Madanmohan Malviya.??? .. Why doesn't technical savvy Narendra Modi speak up and reign in these goons...??? This is not the expectation that people had while enthusiastically exercising their franchise of voting... Hope among the despair is disappearing Mr. Modi please show some accountability!!!!
BeautifulGame Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Isn't this the same AMU that banned girls from library? And u r calling BJP goons? Ur anger should be against an university still stuck in barbaric times
Texan Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Looking at your join date and number of posts, I have a feeling you are here only to create inflammatory threads :hmmm:
Happy Posted November 28, 2014 Author Posted November 28, 2014 This write-up isn't about AMU's internal functioning... I would have absolutely no objections if someone challenges their feudal or orthodoxical mindset... But it is about BJP's machoness... How can they force some educational Institute to celebrate the birthday of their ideological hero!!!

Fact is that Hindus are standing up and making their voices heard which is making dynasty worshippers like you lose your mind. As far as celebrations on the campus - the marxists in JNU celebrated Mahishasura day on the occasion of Dussehra. Not only that, they distributed literature denigrating Goddess Durga in an unmentionable way. Of course, that wont outrage you at all. But the celebration of a freedom fighter has you jumping like a madman. And if you care about about communalism, first protest against the Congress govt in Karnataka which is giving money *only* to poor muslim women (not poor Hindu women) on their marriage. Protest against having separate laws for different religions. Protest against different educational rights for different religions. Protest against the government control of Hindu temples and not mosques. Your secularism is nothing more than an empty slogan -- far removed from the actual meaning of the word -- only meant as a tool to keep Hindus down, muslims pampered and a dynasty firmly in the seat of power. Finally, the people of India have seen through it. Here is your "secularism" succinctly captured in one picture:
G_B_ Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 sometimes i feel sorry for newbies in this section....
randomGuy Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 @happy - I have read all ur posts n found them very good, reasonable posts. (I agree with all of them except perhaps this threads opening post). Its easy to be put off by obnoxious posts attacking one personally for no reason (The responses that u have received in this thread). But this only tells abt the persons making those posts n nothing abt u of course.

It's perhaps very easy to give someone names who says something contrary to ur beliefs...All the points that u raised are valid and certainly are deplorable but two wrong don't make one right... We r living in a plural society and majoritarianism is not d way ahead...and though m in no way a dynasty worshipper but even if I were, it doesn't make my points less valuable!!!

Number Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 One of my relatives has studied in this university and he told me there is usually equal support for India and Pakistan in the hostel common rooms during India-Pakistan matches. Tells us about this university and shows us why a Hindu freedom fighter's birthday celebration is unacceptable there.

rkt.india Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 and it has 50% Muslim quota :sherlock: Its name is Aligarh Muslim University so that's understandable.
Cricket_Hacker Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Its name is Aligarh Muslim University so that's understandable. how? There isn't any hindu reservation in Banaras Hindu University or Hindu College
Raghav_12 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I agree with the sentiments raised by the OP The rate at which BJP is picking only communally contentious issues is just alarming. What makes things particularly worrisome id the fact same party has responsibility of governing the countries. It's never about what is right and what is wrong. Every story would always have two sides. But when ruling party will pick only certain issue on a rule basis it belies it's true intention. They ran whole campaign of love-jihad on the basis of few cases when the poster case of whole campaign (Meerut one) was found to be orchestrated by BJP leader only with the use of money. Even if there was some amount of truth in these stories, ruling party must not be picking things involving one particular community. Why these people remain silent on all the rapes and other atrocities happen. It's not about Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh's celebration. It's about how BJP is communalizing whole whole political and social spectrum. Nobody, even staunchest supporter of Modi, can deny that religion that was going in the background from political or routine social discussions has been brought to forefront through the vicious agenda of Modi-led BJP and that is surely not a mark of progressive nation of 21st century.

But where were you when there was one thread each day on love jihad by your fellow posters. Were those cases proved by court? Why Meerut case was posted where was your objection that let it be proven before you talk about the case?
Happy Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 how? There isn't any hindu reservation in Banaras Hindu University or Hindu College It's common sense that reservations r for the downtrodden, weaker and marginalized sections of society and as a matter of fact minority community happen to be weak socially and economically.

Though I m not aware of what u said but even if it's true how come it justifies BJP's current position about forcing an institution into celebrating birthday of hitherto unknown Jat king... These r deliberate attempt for creating ruckus and polarizing people on religious lines... India of 21st century can not afford these internal social confrontations...

Of course BJP is trying to woo its Jat vote bank by celebrating it, but what is the problem if they celebrate it in the campus to which the land was donated by him. After all he was a freedom fighter.
