I never said test can be rescheduled between these tests. Either it will be postponed 2-3 days from its original date or cancelled. I had said the 10 days gap will be reduced by a day or two.

would look at cancellation in all likelihood. And then rescheduling at a later date.

Nopes.Indians would have shown the guts to play on.Almost every sportsman has done that.Let the game go on. Sachin came back and scored a hundred 4-5 days after his father died. Hughes death is a very sad event but things have to move on now.One can understand the postponement by couple of days but after that it will be pushing it.

Phil Hughes practically died on a cricket pitch.Half the Aussie team witnessed it as well. Much different from individual losing someone and coming back to play cricket .That probably helped Sachin becoz often turning to our passion helps overcoming grief .This is totally different scenario where playing cricket will actually just being back the memories . Also the game must go on but only after the players recover.Not a day after returning from funeral

These are completely different circumstances. Here a cricketer died on a cricket pitch while playing cricket and several of his teammates witnessed that. It wasn't a natural death especially for such a young guy. This incident would impact the game a lot.

They should just cancel the 1st test instead of looking to cram a test between the other games. Test cricket is very gruelling and it can be tough on the players to play so many tests without much gap in between.

that is a tough schedule... i both India do have lots of back up. cant see our pacers lasting through this infact wont be surprised if harris breaks down either.

BCCI and the Indian team have been nothing short of exemplary in their conduct in this matter so far. Proud of them. But there is a point beyond which even they cannot hold on like this. My gut thing would be, in absence of any indication from Aussie players otherwise, to agree for cancellation of the first test. They should return home and spend their days with their families in this time of crisis and pain. People forget that Indian players are too aggrieved and more importantly they are just stuck in their hotels thinking about this incident. Playing cricket, like NZ showed, can alleviate the pain a bit, take the weight of their heads. But being stuck in their hotel rooms, without doing much, and surrounded by negativity can really put a big toll on their mental setup as well. Hopefully BCCI would take a look at this and arrange for them being taken home for next 10 days. Must also remember many of them hardly got even two days to spend with their family after the SL series, so this break can only help them regain themselves.

I like the american approach ; it would start with xyz wouldnt want us to stop, few mins of silence , an emotional speech, commentators will throw words like 'tremendous respect' 'legend' 'never seen before scenes' and its back to business as if nothing happened.

Adelaide could become first Test The Adelaide Test appears increasingly likely to become the first match of the Australia-India series as cricket administrators consider how to restructure the summer. January has emerged as a possible time for the rescheduling of the Brisbane Test, which Cricket Australia confirmed on Saturday would not begin this Thursday as planned. The funeral for Phillip Hughes will be held in his home town of Macksville on Wednesday and it was therefore unreasonable to expect that the Gabba Test could go ahead on Thursday as scheduled. However, the tight time-frame between the Brisbane and Adelaide Tests meant that pushing the Gabba match back by a few days would have a flow-on effect to Adelaide as well. India's squad was due to travel to Brisbane on Monday but instead will remain in Adelaide. "The Indian side will remain in Adelaide until details for the first Test have been confirmed," Cricket Australia said in a tweet. It is possible that the Brisbane Test could be cancelled entirely, but another option being considered is to play it after the Sydney Test in the new year. The Sydney Test finishes on January 7, so it could be feasible to squeeze in the Gabba Test after that, perhaps beginning around January 10, ahead of the one-day tri-series involving India and England. England and India are listed to play a one-day warm-up game in Sydney on January 12 and the ODIs are scheduled to begin on January 16 with Australia and India meeting at the MCG, so further adjustments could be required if the Brisbane Test is moved to January. However, the grieving process will take time for Australia's players, particularly those who were at the SCG when Hughes was hit last Tuesday, and rushing them to the Gabba in the days after his funeral may not be reasonable. But cutting the series back to three Tests could have flow-on effects in terms of compensation for broadcasters. If the Adelaide Test, beginning on December 12, becomes the first Test, it is also possible that Michael Clarke might be fit to lead Australia, although he has naturally been unable to continue his rehabilitation programme over the past week. Adelaide Oval would be a fitting venue for Australia's first match after laying Hughes to rest, given that it was his adopted home ground for the past two summers. One of the games, between New South Wales and Queensland, is scheduled to be played at the SCG. Grade cricket in Sydney and Adelaide was cancelled over the weekend but club cricket continued at lower levels, and at suburban grounds all around the country tributes were paid to Hughes. An especially poignant moment occurred in a grade match in Perth, where Ashton Agar was dismissed for 98 while batting for University on Saturday. It was the same score that Agar made on Test debut at Trent Bridge last year, when he batted with Hughes for more than two hours and set a new Test record for a tenth-wicket Test partnership.
