I would also like to say its not just about the media. A cousin of mine was about to get married and got into a money dispute which was being handled in the courts. All of a sudden out of the blue there was a rape accusation from some unknown girl leveled at him. This caused the girls family to pull out of the wedding. In India with such a weak judiciary its is impossible for the law to be strong enough to exist. A lot of rape and dowry cases are just a means or extortion. Thats not to say the rape and dowry does not happen. Probably 90% of all cases the girls are the victims. But the media should not be blind enough to jump to conclusions Take the post of raghav. 10 fecking years? Justice delayed is justice denied.

Foolish and impetuous decision by the Haryana government to reward these girls without any investigation or listening to witnesses. Also, exposes the media for their one- sided reporting. Whether the girls' reaction in the bus was justified or not is not known, but the second video clearly reveals that they suffer from violent impulses. There is no need to glorify violence even if it is a woman beating up a man.

According to ABP news five eyewitness submitted affidavit in favour of boys ' date='at present the case is going in boys favour. How come no passenger is supporting girls?[/quote'] There were three women....the third supported the girls. It is girls vs boys. Why won't the guys support the boys. There favourite time pass of harrasing girls in public transport is in danger. What if other jeans wearing girls start hitting them for being innocent fun loving boys? SEriously...how difficult is it to get 5 boys to support the miscreants. In this country...the entire village supports and hides rapists against the police.Boys will be naughty boys...girls should stop travelling in public transport if they don't want to be harassed.....that is the mentality. :hatsoff:Girls....some more of you and maybe there will be hope.

I am not surprised at the wave against the girls. They dared to ask for a ban on Khaps.Even chief ministers don't dare utter those words. They dared to say they could fight back because they were wearing jeans. How dare they!!! The entire chowmein eating boy brigade is doing double duty trying to get back. Who cares if they like to beat up boys for making innocent comments. We need some of these loose cannons to bring the fear of the jeans and the belt in the heart of the innocent 'eve teasing' boys.

OTOH, it will end up antagonizing the real issues of girls even more. The moment you turn this into an "us" versus "them" debate - the majority will have an upper hand. Further, two wrongs don't make a right.

fineleg...this was haryana. Girls will never win there, right or wrong. The entire state will work towards preventing the male only status quo. If they had a rape video...they would still be trying to prove the girl wrong .That is the issue. This incident didn't make much noise here when it happened. But look at the effort put in to prove them wrong. The few old cases that showed women in the wrong are being recycled like this is what happens to poor men all the time. Forget the realities of the terror that girls and women face and the millions of cases where they were right. Just recycle those old ones by those '*****es' and prove women are the real abusers in this country of poor 'abla' men.Yay!!!...down with women...down with the woman favoring laws.....!!!! The fact it...whether this happened or not....this needs to happen more often. The fact is that a large number women in these parts cannot aspire to go for higher education or jobs because of lack of safe transport system. Not the lack of transport system...there are enough buses...but these buses have been turned into the play ground for men and boys to try out their 'boys will be boys' skills .Just travel to haryana and see how few women travel in buses .There are buses full of men...rarely a woman. That is the reality of that land.

Asking for ban on khaps, choice of wear and self defense are commendable attributes and that should only lead to a 'wave' for the girls, not against them. The issue here is violent outburst during an argument. If it's really for self defense, then kudos to the girls' bravery. We aren't kids here playing boys vs girls. Condemning physical assault by the girls (if it is so) doesn't mean the atrocities committed towards women in India and the associated social stigma should be ignored.

One could have a sane argument if this thread was only about this case. When the paranoid boys brigade has turned it into their long cherished argument that women in this country are bad creatures favored by evil laws ...out to get the good little boys ....by bringing up a few old cases against(ignoring a million real case)...then it is a jungle.....

^ In that case, you should point out that such arguments aren't true rather than indulging in more raita. In short, you helped them succeed in their strategy by your misdirected outrage. Take a couple of breath and think about it.

Rads - if there is a general malaise, that has to be addressed yes. But if in this instance - the girls initiated aggression/violence, then they need to be apprehended, right? We cant say that there is a general malaise, so in this case - even if the girls were committing a crime, then it should be overlooked? right?
