Old guy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Uthappa is probably a better keeper than DK. And in terms of batting' date=' don't think DK has done anything noteworthy in the whole season.[/quote'] I am not sure I am not confident with him at all I will rather have Saha who in these conditions will be best bet ..I guess it will depend on how test series goes for him
Magneto Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Stupid people... They really thought Gambhir' date=' Sehwag, Yuvi will suddenly be called into the ODI side after two years of break just because the World Cup is coming... Selectors have built this team over the last 12-15 months in view of the World Cup... They are obviously not going to change their strategy just because some other group of three people won them a World Cup 4 years back....[/quote'] These are random fans who suddenly wake up and diss on Facebook. They don't have much to do with cricket.
Old guy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Well' date=' in India people usually compare batting averages to justify keeper selection.[/quote'] Dhoni is not half bad and it's ok to select him over others as his batting is so much better but there is a limit There if difference between being good and there being someone better and being out right mediocre like the guys you mentioned
Magneto Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Thoughts about Manoj Tiwary? He surely can't score any more runs? Don't think his leg-spin is good enough. Plus he is competing with Ash and Sir.
Magneto Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I am not sure I am not confident with him at all I will rather have Saha who in these conditions will be best bet ..I guess it will depend on how test series goes for him Saha will do well in the Test series. He knows by heart now who likes what drinks. He is a pro at it now. :two_thumbs_up:
bowl_out Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Re-posting from another thread... The final squad is almost final anyway... It will be : Batsmen (7) : Rahane, Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli, Raina, Dhoni, Rayudu All rounders (2) : Jadeja, Axar Spin (1) : Ashwin Pace (5) : Bhuvi, Shami, Ishant, Umesh, Aaron That makes 15 players... None of whom I can see being dropped for the WC squad... If they go with an additional player, will it be a spinner (Karn/Mishra) or all-rounder (Binny) or back-up keeper (Saha) is the only decision to make...

I am okay with him even if he is picked till the 2019 Cricket World Cup (only in ODIs though).
Old guy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Saha will do well in the Test series. He knows by heart now who likes what drinks. He is a pro at it now. :two_thumbs_up: :cantstop: He actually did very well in ipl so he can play limited over cricket and has always done well in domestic cricket Anyway it won't matter as dhoni will play and knowing this team if injury happens they will proper some one who can keep who is already in team Nd replace dhoni with batsman

I am okay with him even if he is picked till the 2019 Cricket World Cup (only in ODIs though). Yep..his keeping is good ..Saha is better but dhoni makes up with bat for it and then some But other 3 guys u mentioned I do not trust them even little bit

(at keeping).
rkt.india Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Thoughts about Manoj Tiwary? He surely can't score any more runs? Tiwary, Rayudu both similar bats. Think Tiwary is a bit better but it would have been him, not Rayudu if he had avoided injuries.
Old guy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 That's why I was asking indirectly whether Rayudu is better than Uthappa or Jadhav. (at keeping). That will purely depend on their batting form But uthappa over rayadu
bowl_out Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 They will pick 8 batsmen, not 7. 2 spinners, not 3. In a squad of 15. They have Jadeja, Axar, Ashwin who can fill in for three spinners... And two all rounders in the squad to fill in for the extra batsman... Really doubt if they would pick a Jadhav or Uthappa for Axar or an extra pacer
Cricket_Hacker Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 This should be the 15- Dhawan Rohit Rahane Raina Kohli Dhoni Rayudu Ashwin Jadeja Axar Umesh Aaron Bhuvi Shami Ishant Saha can be flown in if Dhoni gets injured,or can replace Ishant
bowl_out Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 This should be the 15- Dhawan Rohit Rahane Raina Kohli Dhoni Rayudu Ashwin Jadeja Axar Umesh Aaron Bhuvi Shami Ishant Saha can be flown in if Dhoni gets injured,or can replace Ishant Yup. Exactly the same 15 that I have... So, no point discussing why Dinda or Murali Vijay are there in the probables list...
jalebi_bhai Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 This should be the 15- Dhawan Rohit Rahane Raina Kohli Dhoni Rayudu Ashwin Jadeja Axar Umesh Aaron Bhuvi Shami Ishant Saha can be flown in if Dhoni gets injured,or can replace Ishant If there are no injuries........then that is the WC 15.......
G_B_ Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 agree with that its the WC 15 with Saha being situated in Australia incase of an injury. the only downside is that if Dhoni gets an injury just before the game like 1 hour before the game then somebody will need to keep. Which is why maybe Uttappa can he given a go to provide cover as an opener and also a keeper. In place of Rahane or Rayadu
Magneto Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 They have Jadeja, Axar, Ashwin who can fill in for three spinners... And two all rounders in the squad to fill in for the extra batsman... Really doubt if they would pick a Jadhav or Uthappa for Axar or an extra pacer No point picking 3 spinners when only one will play. I think they might pick a seam-bowling allrounder if they are hell-bent on picking an all-rounder. (I can see a name in the list too :hmmm:) 8 batsmen (including Dhoni), 5 pacers, 2 spinners is the way to go.
