Raghav_12 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 http://ibnlive.in.com/news/nathuram-godse-as-much-a-patriotic-as-mahatma-gandhi-bjp-mp-sakshi-maharaj/517612-37-64.html New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj sparked a controversy on Thursday by saying that Nathuram Godse was as much a patriot as Mahatma Gandhi. He said, "Nathuram Godse as much a nationalist as Mahatma Gandhi. Godse was a nationalist and Gandhi did a lot for India." Gandhi's assassin Godse is being eulogised in Maharashtra. The Congress said, "Godse bravery day is being observed in Maharashtra." The issue was raised in Rajya Sabha which witnessed uproarious scenes with members from Congress lodging strong protest against eulogising of Nathuram Godse at a function held in Maharashtra earlier this month. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Husain Dalwai (Congress) said he has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over hosting the event attended by some religious leaders and former MLAs. "Mahatma Gandhi's killer is being eulogised by hosting his 'Shaurya Diwas' in Maharashtra... These people talk of development, but are trying to create a rift in society," he said, accusing the right-wing organisations of indulging in such things, including religious conversions that created tension in society. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "This is not acceptable. Mahatma Gandhi's killer, whosoever it may be, we are against it...We do not accept any honour of Mahatma Gandhi's killers." Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, "There is no question of eulogising such a person. We should leave the matter there, but defaming an organisation is not acceptable." (With additional information from PTI) True color are being exposed, slowly but surely. Great BJP. Keep it up.
G_B_ Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Nathuram Godse was a patriot. This methods however were wrong. I think people are mistaking two things. Bring a patriot does not mean being right in the ways to go about things. Godse himself respected Gandhi a lot. However felt that he would be a hindrance post independence. So he gave his life up for the sake of his beliefs. Keep in mind he did touch Gandhis feet before shooting him.
Texan Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 OP, I want to ask you a couple of questions, hopefully you will attempt to answer them: 1. Did Godse have any personal animosity with Gandhi due to any personal feud or was his feud with Gandhi something to do with his idea of India being different from Gandhi's? 2. Do you consider Bhagat Singh to be a patriot?
Raghav_12 Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 This is a new low. People comparing Godse with Bhagat Singh. Disgusting.
Texan Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Are you capable of answering any question without resorting to ad hominems?
hhunaeh Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 "Godse was a nationalist. Gandhiji also did a lot for the nation." gandhi killer is a nationalist, and this guy Gandhi also did a lot it seems. Gandhi is now an afterthought? :hysterical: rss and bhakts should stop lying about sardar patel, bose and embrace this gandhi killer more openly. No point in back tracking unnecessarily.

In a way this clown BJP MP is courageous enough to speak in what RSS and 'daughter' organizations believe.
Texan Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I am going to assume OP has chickened out from answering the questions I have posed and he only likes posting "sensational news" as threads and not indulging in any discussion afterwards except for throwing muck at others who might have differing views.
gattaca Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 He might be more nationalist than most members in AAP whoose views on Kashmir are not in nations intrest.

Sorry man. I would rather like to be known as person who chickens out than sitting on discussion table with a person who tries to equate Bhagat Singh with Nathuram Godse. There are enough like minded whom you can have this discussion. I am chickening out.

There are enough like minded whom you can have this discussion. I am chickening out. Did I equate or did you equate? Read my post again. I have 2 simple questions. The question on Bhagat Singh is extremely simple and has no mention of Godse whatsoever. I am simply asking: Is Bhagat Singh a patriot or not? Can you not answer such a simple question?
surajmal Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 what a great guy' date='he sacrificed himself by killing the father of our nation.[/quote'] "father of the nation"? Please list all the things Gandhi created to be given than title.
surajmal Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 And roflcopter at aaptards. Create a thread; don't answer any counter questions; b!tch and fart; rinse and repeat.
surajmal Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 If Godse hadn't done it, someone else would have (particularly Punjabi hindus and sikhs). Gandhi had become too big for his own skin and had to be shown the door.
asterix Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I've my doubts that Godse even killed Gandhi... Of course he was there to attack Gandhi but actual killer was some Congressi. Nehru was getting desperate with Gandhi behaving like an AAPtard after the partition... On topic, Sakshi maharaj is a loose cannon... The guy has now been forced to retract... I still get the feeling that all these recent events managed to distract the opposition from targeting BJP on real issues... However BJP should cease using these tactics in future as its pi$$ing off the industrialist who were hoping for some real boost in economy...

Murder is murder and it cannot be justified, the murderer deserves condemnation and the strong arm of the law. This is also the kind of sentiments that makes hinduvtas closer to jihadi jaahils than civilized people : they are quite ok to break the law if it suits their purpose. History and current status quo shows that societies that have a stong respect and enforcement of law dominates the ones who are less inclined to respect the law. Nathuram godse was an ill educated, racist murderer. Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2
Muloghonto Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 "father of the nation"? Please list all the things Gandhi created to be given than title. He is by far the greatest mobilizer of indians in recorded history. Nobody came close to having as much indians do his bidding for the sake of india. Bose is a very very distant second. That makes gandhi well deserving of father of nation title. Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2
jalebi_bhai Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 People are failing to see the true intention of the OP.......to malign the RSS......what the OP won't tell you is that Godse was not a part of the RSS when he committed the assassination......he was part of his own isolated group that was not supported by mainstream Hindus..... In no way do I support what Godse did......infact.....his actions have proven to be counter-intuitive to his goals......Mahatma Gandhi's legacy as a Martyr/Saint gained even more credence and Godse is now nothing but a footnote in history.......had he led a political charge against the Congress and won.......he would've been a Titan in Indian history...... But saying that, I personally feel that Gandhi's role in our freedom struggle is overstated........his satyagraha movement was not what ultimately won us independence.......after WWII, it had become unfeasible for the British Empire to carry on governing it's colonies......that unfeasibility, along with the INA's armed struggle to the East of India during the World Wars greatly crippled the British.......by 1945 itself.......Britain's exit from India was certain....... But why I really feel that Gandhi was a failure was because he and the Congress ultimately failed to win over their own people and couldn't keep India united.......had his non-violence strategy really been as effective and all encompassing as people claim, then he would've had all Indians, including the Muslims of Punjab and NWFP, on board......however.......there were cries for the formation of Pakistan way back in 1933......a time when Gandhi was meant to be at the peak of his popularity.......and ultimately he was the one who convinced the Congress to accept the partition of India........the consequences of which we are still facing today....namely, the state of perpetual enmity with Pakistan.........a nation that has and continues to be a thorn in our side.......and has accounted for thousands of dead Indians....... So.....I feel it is wrong to eulogize Godse's actions........but there needs to be serious revisionism on Gandhi's role in our independence struggle........

In that way, Gandhi did the smart thing by going for non-violent movement. Ajit Doval has a different view. Have a listen - [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKpl7v_c-Qo[/ame]
