I am a fan of Kohli and he batted brilliantly but the shot was brainless and so was the bravado in his advice to Rohit to keep going for it. This isn't a T20 chose with a RRR of 21 this is a Test where we could have won but once that became virtually impossible we could have prevented going 1-0 down but idiocy from Kohli have prevented it from happening.

How was the shot brainless ? The ball was there to be hit because it was bowled a bit shorter. Perhaps he didnt time it well, maybe the ball slowed down a bit off the pitch and he didnt judge the pace well but that doesnt he shouldnt have attempted the shot. He was positive right throughout the innings and took on the bowlers especially Lyon who was getting a lot of purchase from the track. That's how he made 141 and almost won the game. As long as he was at the crease, he was always going to try and win the game and that's how it should be. I would rather take a loss when trying to go for a win than taking the safe route and drawing the game.

We will see how many hearts India win when they return with 0-4. When the 4th wicket fell, India should have shut shop and played for a draw. Getting 360 is no joke against Australia in Australia. In the entire history of the game, there has been only one instance of a team chasing 360 against Australia in the 4th innings, and this team was a very strong SA team. It was foolish to believe that this was an achievable target after losing some quick wickets in the middle.

I agree with you completely, it is one thing playing positively and trying to win but once 4 down that's time time to shut up shop, we could have then not only shown we can play positive but also stay in the series! Now we have handed over all the momentum to Australia as an early Xmas gift.

Since when did IPL results determine test captaincy or potential? i swear you ipl fans are morons. MSD has done more of course but in tests he is the worst captain ever Kohli in his first test impressed everyone and upstaged dhoni Dhoni: 0-4 Eng, 0-4 AUS, 2-1 loss to england AT HOME, 0-1 to SA, 0-1 to NZ, 3-1 England. Easy to play out a draw from there if India chose to. For example, Saha played one shot too many and paid the price. Kohli too fell to a needless aerial shot.
