Temujin Khaghan Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Sangakarra actually told MArk Nicholas at the Annual Cowdrey Bash BCCI speech contest that India doesnt want DRS inorder to protect their batsmen. he was directly stating that BCCI was trying to cheat. Its like this - if we get away with howlers - whole world cries that we are cheating with no DRS if we get howlers - whole world laughs that we deserved it either way we lose
adi B Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Its the goddamn umpire's fault. that fat blob robbed us the match. we need good umpires more than drs That's a long time solution. it'll take time to produce Simon tauffels,meanwhile we have to deal with these so called elite umpires(only few are decent).so its best to implement drs for the time being

They see howlers against us, and go if DRS were present you would still be there and if howler goes against opposition they say India doesn't want DRS because they want to win by cheating and BCCI has bought the umpires. This stubborn stance isn't helping us either way. Look at it from umpire's perspective. If they give decision in favor of us people will allege they are working at BCCI's behest but if they makes all mistakes against us they can always play the DRS card. BCCI diktat also forcing players to resonate the board's stance reg this issue. We are in a mess and shooting ourselves in the foot. Had DRS been there i) We would have competed better in 2011 Eng series where many calls went against us ii) we would have won 2012 homes series against Eng-remember Dar was 12th man for Eng whole series iii) we would have drawn the RSA series, Kohli was given out wrongly on day 5 in Durban iv) We would have won NZ series where a number of decisions went against us esp in the test we lost v) We would have done better in Eng series this year. Bell plumb lbw not given in Southampton helped him get 175 runs and was the turning point of that series. i agree with most of that but still, you deal the card you get. No DRS still means you perform competently. Dont know why India refuses DRS, less chance of a DRS howler than an umpire howler isnt there?

CSK Fan Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 BTW, people can complain about bad umpiring all you want, but we do not have a leg to stand on without accepting DRS. Not because umpiring errors are ok, but because we have not taken every possible remedy before complaining.

Ravi Shastri feels India's consistent stand against the controversial Decision Review System (DRS) has been vindicated by the spate of wrong decisions during the recent Ashes series in England "India's stand on DRS is vindicated. Three years ago when I opposed DRS, it was said I had a contract with the BCCI. I stand by even now what I said then," said Shastri. Shastri said he was not opposed to technology, but wanted it to be used sparingly, as it is not perfect. "DRS is also against the spirit of the game which teaches the player not to question an umpiring decision. I know what our players think about technology, what works and what doesn't," added Shastri.
