Khalpat Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 It seems, the ground work is getting started: Don't Debunk Genuine Accomplishments of Ancient Indian Science, says Shashi TharoorFormer Union minister Shashi Tharoor has apparently come out in support of BJP minister Dr Harsh Vardhan's claim that Greeks and Arabs received credit for advances in Mathematics that rightfully belong to India. In a series of tweets, Mr Tharoor said, "Modernists sneering at @drharshvardhan should know he was right". People, he said, should not "debunk the genuine accomplishments" of science in ancient India and cited his own articles on the subject. On Saturday, attending the Indian Science Congress in Mumbai, the Union Minister for Science and Technology said algebra and the Pythagoras' theorem both originated in India, but the credit for these has gone to people from other countries. http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/don-t-debunk-genuine-accomplishments-of-ancient-indian-science-says-shashi-tharoor-643869?pfrom=home-lateststories
G_B_ Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 why do i get a feeling Tharoor wants to jump ship? looking at his constituency the BJP came a close second there. If he switched to the BJP there is a good chance he can retain his own seat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiruvananthapuram_(Lok_Sabha_constituency) Already he is facing heat from the local Kerela congress. Who clearly want him out. Its a gamble worth taking IMO if he can win in the lok sabha on a BJP ticket then there is a good chance he can become part of the BJP core state leadership in the state If i were him i would take the gamble. O Rajagopal who came a close second to him is quite old. There is a good chance and Shashi knows it that the Kerela congress may push him out of the party anyways. Better jump than be pushed

May be thats one reason why some accomplishments are not credited to Indians
someone Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 In general' date=' Indians have been very reluctant to publish their research for the fear of somebody stealing their ideas or consumed by self-doubt compared to the westerners.. May be thats one reason why some accomplishments are not credited to Indians[/quote'] It's not restricted to just research. Yoga is a good example of how we were made to think of it as an outdated practice and western ideology is much superior. Unfortunately, it was only when western people who started to worth of yoga did we awake ourselves. We should be thankful that some westerners who tried to take credit for invention of yoga did not succeed. We have ignored our own culture for a long time and politics has played a key part in it. Sanskrit is another such case.
RedFever Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 The real questions should be, is Congress more dangerous than Pakistan ?
Texan Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 The real questions should be, is Congress more dangerous than Pakistan ? I am sure that had they been in power, they would have let the boat off the hook because after all it was carrying "secular" people.
Khalpat Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Congress leader floats Bharatiya Hindu Parishad to counter Vishwa Hindu Parishad BENGALURU: Rahul Gandhi might be confused on what to do to bring the Hindu back into the Congress fold. But a block unit president of the party in Puttur, one of the Hindutva hotspots in Congress-ruled Karnataka, has worked out a plan to counter the saffron onrush in the region which, he says, will be a soft Hindutva model for the party to replicate across the country. Puttur, the former assembly constituency and home of Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, has long been a BJP bastion. The Congress managed to wrest it in 2013, by nominating a former BJP MLA and Gowda-follower, Shakuntala Shetty, as its candidate. Since then, the Congress has been trying all methods to ensure the very divided electorate remains with them. The latest move is by the block Congress president Hemanth Shetty, who has decided to float an organisation called Bharatiya Hindu Parishad (BHP). "Hindu has come to mean BJP, Hindutva and the Sangh Parivar. But that is not .. G_B_ Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 politically i am not sure this will pay off. But atleast its good to see that they have identified the problem of being anti hindu. Depends how much money and bodies they give this new organisation. VHP has heavy overseas funding while the RSS too had 5-6 million cadre who are active. Each shaka has a head pracharak and 20-30 people who work there and these shakas are expanding at breakneck space. The congress needs to be able to spend significant time and effort to make this thing work. It has taken the RSS a long to get to where they are. Probably decades. Mohan Bhagwat was effectively controlling the RSS from 2005 even if he was not its head owing to poor health of KS Sudershan. He has put in the hours to make it work and has been a ruthless organiser. Considering he is 64 we can expect atleast another 10 years of Bhagwat at the helm exogenous circumstances aside.

Desi Cartman Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Congress to seek feedback on its anti-Hindu perception The problem is not that they are anti hindu because they are not pro any "section". They have done zero for Muslims and zero for any Hindu caste. Their policy has always been to keep urban India and rural India divided and to make sure rural Indians don't get ahead. They have used the modern version of zameendari. Now all this is not going to fly because BJP won because people associated economic growth with modi. If it was just Hinduvta then they would have won every election since babri masjid episode.
